There's a lot of stuff to pick up on two movies in. Not just Sonic praising Keanu, but also the fact that the GUN commander that gives Tom the Olive Garden gift card is in fact the dude who oversaw the botched raid on Shadow. So he already knew what Sonic was and deliberately left Sonic go because he knew how badly things went with the last superpowered Hedgehog in GUN custody (which lead to the program losing all funding and disbanding until Sonic appeared)

I didn't realize the connection until now. XD It might have or they just didn't think about it until Sonic 2's production. Just that "Oh hey you know that joke we made in Sonic 1, what if we casted him as Shadow" and boom. Since most likely they weren't thinking about it during Sonic 1 up until starting to work on Sonic 2.

I’m watching this after seeing Sonic Movie 3, and honestly, the emotions are still so strong. Korone seems to really love Jim Carrey, and he was absolutely amazing in the third movie too, so I totally agree with her. I just watched sonic 3 today, and 2 is still pretty fresh in my mind, but I forgot how good the first one was. Some might consider it boring or not enough actual Sonic content, and I definitely see that, and perhaps I went in with low expectations with how sonic looked initially and not believing Jim Carrey would take the role seriously at all, but this one went a long way to set up both his and Sonic's characterizations pretty well and made them compelling regardless and I don't think it could have done that if it wasn't a slow build up. That and I feel like there's a bit lost here going into the sequels where there was much more creativity in how they utilized and expressed Sonic's speed and what all he can do with it. The action in the sequels is pretty good but just seems more of what you'd come to expect, nothing wrong with that in itself but definitely feel myself missing that aspect when they had to go at a bit of a faster pace to include everything.
