So Aliciax, fun fact! That episode with the fanfiction is even better/worse than you even realize! You see, the whole thing seems to be a parody of Misery (1990), a movie about a famous author who gets in a car accident and is rescued by a woman who is his “biggest fan”, who takes care of him at her house in the middle of nowhere. He must try to escape her because she’s SO obsessed with him that she’s preventing him from healing properly (and I’m fairly sure there’s an infamous scene where she… I won’t talk about it, it’s equal parts spoilery and fucking brutal) and making him rewrite his books into different, twisted shit to suit her fantasies. The fact that the writers would parody such a gut wrenchingly appalling movie in their kids cartoon and also use it to comment on cringe Sonic fans and such is just so fucking amazing to me.

It was a show advertised to kids but it is really for people who played sonic games, games in general and most of all people who HATED the fact that the game of the same name was ABSOLUTELY ASS. You'd enjoy it. Side note: Best one out of these is the slight jab at nintendo with Sonic wanting to go tap Princess Peach, but the funniest one is Amy not being able to express herself one. Not only because it shows Sassy Sonic but long time Sonic fans all know Amy has a teetering bridge between Cute and awkward forwardness to Sonic to borderline psychotic.

Even things like Eggman and the "bro code" for working with Tales is an example of that. Knuckles is the meathead but his heart is in the right place and he is characterized in the show by having often jarringly insightful commentary. That's because he doesn't think inside the box that everyone else does. That's why this is a topic that his character gets used for. Amy as the "girlfriend" character is designed where it's easy to mistake moments of personal empowerment as being representative of feminist agenda, when in fact, that runs against the underlying purpose of feminist movements rising up explicitly to establish gender equality. This moment isn't making fun of feminism so much as it is providing a clear and obvious example of a well-intentioned misstep, followed by an observational correction. It's humorous because it's insightful and it interjects at a point that wouldn't be expected as it undercuts the framework of the scene of the penalty kick. As a kids show, it's an example where you can interject into every day conversations to prevent unintentional self-sabotage without being adversarial. It's not making fun of feminism at all, it's helping to recognize what it is and what it isn't - which is why you get that in a kid's show. Kids learn by example of witnessing scenarios and how they play out. They might not get why the scene is funny, but the way it's directed still makes it memorable. I think this show is a good example of "Yeah, nothing bad happens, so kids are able to watch it," but doesn't necessarily mean it was intended entirely FOR children. This was just a bunch of writers having a good time! It's so great to see people making a good product that can be enjoyed by people of many ages, instead of handcrafting something more on the lifeless side to "suit" children. This show's writing is REALLY WITTY! If you haven't watched it yet, definitely give it a try!!!

Kinda late to this but one show you might like is Scissor Seven. It's one of the best action comedy animes I've ever seen. Or Bluey. You will love it and you will cry from how wholesome it is. If you don't wanna cry from another kids show then disregard.

It's dumb enough that kids will like the action and the dumb jokes but smart enough to know that there's probably someone who's stuck watching it with them, so they throw in some very smart jokes for good measure. It's truly a masterpiece.

Knuckles is the best character in the show. Every joke he makes is comedy gold. Sticks the Badger is also an absolutely hilarious character who makes the majority of the 4th wall jokes. Eggman is less of a villain and more of an annoying fanboy who more so enjoys tormenting sonic and friends than doing anything actually evil. Amy has more character in this show than she ever had before in any of the games and has more interests that go beyond loving sonic. Tails can be super smart one minute and then completely clueless the next. Allowing him to be both an intellectual foil to Eggman one minute and just another idiot hanging with his friends the next. And Sonic's sass levels are MAXED out. He has a quip ready for every occasion and it leads to some absolutely hysterical banter between the characters. The show ran for 2 seasons with 104 episodes and is honest to God the funniest Sonic show we've ever gotten. It is truly a shame that the games were so bad, which caused a lot of people to write off the show as being just a cheap tie in. It is such a good show and deserves more recognition. At least the meme's keep the shows spirit alive.

To your question, yeah. Blood oaths are a common thing I think. I vaguely remember making one with my friend when I was really young. But then again I also did voodoo with my sister when we were kids. Literally had a little doll we'd poke needles into to cause like back-pain to our enemies and stuff.
