Thank you. That was a very easy understood definition of what it is. Everywhere else I went to just gave me a very complicated definition which did not really tell me why It came up on my FAFSA.

Do you have to sign up for all of your classes at the same time? I want to do full time, but I can only sign up for 2 classes right now. I am in the middle of getting permission from 2 professors(both of their classes are full) to make an exception. That process may take a couple of days. After I obtain written permission from both, I can register for those 2 extra classes, which would bring me to 12 credits. I just hope that waiting on those two classes doesn't knock my pell grant amount down, especially because now my school is past the payment day.

I missed my school's "priority deadline" to submit fafsa by 2 weeks in January and worry that they will reduce or eliminate my pell grant if they run out, what do you think?
@Thecollegeinvestor

It will not reduce your Pell Grant, as that is Federal aid. However, you could lose out on potential scholarships from your school or grants from your state that may be first-come, first-serve.

Going to a non-accredited school makes you ineligible for any Federal or state assistance. You can look for private scholarships that are merit based. This requires work to find them, apply, and then get the award. It takes time as well. FAFSA says Im eligble for Pell grant now school says i am not when they have me signed an Offer Letter last week for 7395 this school year. Their reason was because my EFC/SAI is higher than my COA. In their offer letter it showed im eligible for $7395 Pell grant and thst my COA IS $13131. My EFC was zero and SAP is qualified ot satisfactory.

The earlier you submit your FAFSA, the more aid may be available to you through your school. Pell Grants are Federal and you either qualify or your don't. Where the FAFSA matters is any additional aid - that's first come first served. So apply as soon as possible when the FAFSA opens in October.

Yes, the Pell Grant will be applied to your total cost of education - which includes tuition, fees, room and board, etc. You don't really pick and choose what it specifically pays. You can only receive financial aid up to the Cost of Attendance provided by your college. You need to see how much is being covered by financial aid. Chances are, it's 100%, so that's why the Pell Grant also can't be issued.

It can if the cost of attendance covers it. And in that case, what happens is all the money goes to the school, and they refund you the excess. You can then use that to purchase supplies. yes, you can.. don't let anyone tell you that you can't. I was homeschooled and never got any diploma or GED .. I just said I had completed high school. Simple as that. They don't have the time or resources to go hunt down every person's diploma or GED. And honestly, even if they said you need one of the two I would just hop into photoshop and make up a GED real quick. But like I said I got into college just fine without either of them and I qualified and got pell grants multiple times. IF they ask just say you were a "Dual enrolled homeschool student" and you finished Highschool but since you, were homeschooled you never got any certificate... don't let that ridiculous idea stop you from getting the education you want. The idea that you would need to prove you did HS to go to college is lunacy. You are paying for college so if you can't pass then it's your money and time .. not the schools, plus the school will gladly take your money they don't care if you didn't go to school ever before. I mean how do you think all us homeschooled kids get into college? about 60% of us never got any actual diploma or GED we just did the required classes

Grants are FREE and you don't have to repay them; however, loans will need to be repaid. So the question now is what kind of aid did you apply for? Grants or Loans? If you think you qualify for a Pell Grant; I'd go back and review the video and revise your aid application if you can. BTW, I'm not a member of the College Investor Team. I'm just offering a reply to your question based on what I know.
