I have fished this in the winter, in wind and rain and it works surprisingly well, get rid of all that pellet waggler fluff, put a good traditional bodied waggler on, like the ones Ian Lewis makes, and sink your line, same principle feeding but a little less and leave the bait out longer.

Hi Keith, is it OK to fish at that distance in a Match (from that peg you are in) - Would you be technically fishing in & across other Anglers water??
@keitheaston9011
@keitheaston9011 3 жыл бұрын
A draw in the middle few pegs of any lake is a big help as this keeps the peg boundaries clear to all . Once a carp is hooked and has swam across the next peg it's down to a gentleman's agreement to keep things right . It's usually not a problem . Fall outs can happen but are rare .

What pellets are ideal for this style of fishing product name? Would a wafter work in the same way?
@keitheaston7440
@keitheaston7440 4 жыл бұрын
If possible I use screttins pellet as they sink slightly slower, however much of the time you have to use the fishery pellet which is often coppens. A top tip.. If you ever come across a batch of pellets that need oiling to sink then keep some aside for hook pellets. These will sink very slowly and may catch a few extra fish. Also, a wafter is worth a go, but be careful to check it sinks or you may be fishing floating bait which is widely banned. Tight lines

@@keitheaston7440 thank you, this has helped a lot! I was using dynamite 6mm with catapult but need more practice with aiming, was using a 8mm on band was struggling. I think I need more time practicing, I tried a ringers pellet wafter but was floating might need a bigger hook or just a 8 weight before it. Would it ideal to use a hook length or can I use 6lb daiwa hyper sensor straight through? Thanks
@keitheaston7440
@keitheaston7440 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Chris, best advice I can offer is to try 4lb maxima as reel line, this will help with your casting accuracy and also will allow you to use a smaller waggler which will catch you more fish. Hook lengths are another story, depending on where you're fishing but for a starting point try some 0.16 line to a size 16 guru lwg hook. With a 6mm pellet, or a 14 lwg hook for 8mm pellets. See how you get on with that. You will be light enough to fish comfortably and strong enough to land all sizes of carp. It will also be a good angling test for you're technique as mistakes whist playing fish will result in losses, which in turn you will learn from and quickly improve with. You'll also enjoy the sporting battle more, which is all part of it. Tight lines pal.

Yes Renny , lovely place . I'm glad you enjoyed the video and hope it helps you catch more fish this summer . Great vid, my favourite method of fishing busy and hectic on a good day, having tried 10,11 and 12 ft rods I prefer a 12 footer, they feel a lot softer in the tip which I prefer, I do only carry one rod for everything and the 11 foot rods are a more specialist big fish tool, maybe it's because I grew up fishing a 13 ft float/match rod. You will go through some catapult elastic using this method.

Hi Bob . The main line is 3lb maxima and the hook length is 0.14 or 0.16 diameter which is a bit thinner than the maxima . The pellet is attached on a micro rubber band and the hook was a size 18 eyed .

Jasper Mol , hello . The secret is to keep the line direct and tight , if you master that they will bolt and many will hook themselves . If you watch the vid you will notice I'm taking one turn back regularly . Conditions were perfect on the day and this seemed to help . The diameter of reel line you use is very important , I used 3lb maxima and was able to keep everything tight to the float , when the carp took the bait they felt the rod tip not the float . Hope this helps , tight lines mate .

Hi seb , just spotted this and wanted to point out that this video features the number 2. First small hooks and lighter lines it's perfect. Open water with no snags to speak of the rod is ideal . Very forgiving and light . The number 3 is a slightly more powerful version and is more suitable for heavier lines and stronger terminal tackle where a bit of pulling is likely to be needed . We did a video last month on this rod at messingham . Pellet waggler to an island I believe . Hope this helps . Tight lines mate .

@keitheaston7440
@keitheaston7440 4 жыл бұрын
Hello , I'm not convinced fish have the same concept of colour as we do. I believe they see shades of black and white. I'm not sure of it but am sure they are undesturbed by the green foam on the floats . The key is feeding and dressing your waggler into the water as neatly as possible , giving you a tight line . It also makes the float sit up very quickly and these two things along with good feeding are the difference between good and great . Enjoy your fishing with the lad . All the best .

How do you establish a carp Waggler swim - get it going/ draw the carp in?
@keitheaston9011
@keitheaston9011 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Julian . Picking a bait that isn't susceptible to small fish like roach is a good way to begin . Hard pellets are less likely to attract these and a very regular trickle of these will often get a response from any carp in the area . Then it's a case of fishing off the bottom which will make your hook bait stand out . Once you have more than 3 or 4 in your swim it's a case of making them compete against each other for what should be never enough bait . 4 or 5 6mm or 8mm pellets fed twice a minute would be a good starting point . Feel free to ask for more help , but that's the nuts and bolts of it . Tight lines fella .

At hayfield in particular I'd say yes without doubt . It changes in a few ways though , it tends to be a steadier match both feeding and the regularity of casts are greatly reduced but it's still the winning method here . Bigger wagglers fished 6 to 8 feet deep is the game . Bare in mind the depth of water on hayfield a suspended pellet or small boilie scores very well . Enjoy the rest of the summer !
