Eight weeks after I mailed in the required items for the SoleusAir fire recall I finally received a check from Gree for $198.00. Very fair considering I used it for around 13 years before it failed.

Hello, thank you for your video. we just purchased this machine. But we are confused about a drain hose and the white hose. Do we need to put both hoses?
@JSProjectWild4 ай бұрын
The larger diameter hose is the drain hose for gravity draining to a drain that is lower than the dehumidifier. The smaller diameter hose is for pumping to a drain that is higher than the dehumidifier. Should only attach one depending on your drain location. Thanks for watching!!!

I'm glad to see your video here... my Frigidaire 50-pint just started icing up, so something's wrong, and I'm in need of new one. I saw this model on Menard's website, and the low price caught my attention, and they are in stock at a Menard's close to me. I was curious about the pump... I have no need for a pump since I have always hooked up a short piece of garden hose to continuously drain into my basement floor drain... I was wondering if I could run it continuously and not even use the pump... to me it's just something else that will go wrong... glad to see that I don't even need to turn the pump on. Looks like it has a 3-year warranty too, which is a big plus... I have a hard time getting more than 2 years out of current dehumidifiers, and no one fixes them these days, unless you attempt it yourself. Heck, I had a Sears Craftsman that lasted about 25 years !
@JSProjectWild5 ай бұрын
The unit is designed so that when the water raises the float towards the top of the tank the pump turns on and empties the tank. Therefore, when a drain hose is hooked up the water just drains out and no water gets into the tank so the pump never turns on. My dehumidifier is still doing its job as it should. Thanks much for watching and commenting!!! 🦾

@@JSProjectWild I have gone through at least six other dehumidifiers since my 1st Sears Craftsman... none of them lasting more than 2 years... I wonder why... is it the "energy efficiency" requirements ?

@@JSProjectWild Most likely... I guess the lower prices help... but I would love a dehumidifier that lasted a lot longer... even with warranties, and extended warranties, if you can get them, you need to have backup dehumidifiers !

NEED HELP! I took the bucket out to clean it, unable to get it back in all the way. Any tips on how to seat it correctly. Slides in no problem until there is about a quarter inch of the bucket sticking out on the front of the unit.
@JSProjectWild6 ай бұрын
After reading this question I checked mine out. Take the bucket out and use a flashlight to see the pump pickup tube (has a round screen on the end of it) top right side. It has to be in the up position when installing the bucket. If it is in the down position bucket will stop about 1 1/2 inch from going in. When in the up position (as it should be when installing the bucket) the bucket may still stop at about 1/2 inch as it hits the tab on the pickup tube that makes it drop into the bucket, just push a little harder to get the bucket fully seated. Thanks for watching and let us know if this is a solution to your problem.

Your advice was spot on ... Worked like a charm ! Little backstory… Called Customer Support, was given a separate number for TECH SUPPORT… Needed to send two photos and a video. AFTER doing all that, I was informed that tech support would not help me until I provided a copy of the receipt 😮 ?!? Unit was installed by contractor when the house was built. I have the user manual, but not the receipt. Unit drains into the ground, but when I looked up how to clean the air filter, the manual said to clean the bucket even If using a hose to drain continuously. I had even asked about the parts in the upper right hand corner being an issue .... told I needed to talk to the tech to find out..... buuuut, no receipt, no talking to tech :-/

I just bought a Pelonis 50pt dehumidifier for my basement 3 days ago and its been essentially running nonstop ever since, even though I set it to 50% humidity. Is this a mechanical defect? It just seems weird, and I anticipate a massive electrical bill
@JSProjectWild6 ай бұрын
I have mine set at 55% and that keeps it 50% humidity by the reading on a separate humidity gauge. I have not yet owned a dehumidifier that had an accurate humidity control. They all seem to take out more humidity than they are set for. Might want to check the actual humidity with another gauge. And yeah, running that compressor makes the electric dial spin. Thanks for watching!!!

@@JSProjectWild would you recommend the extended warranty through Menards or from third party company to have a piece of mind since these don’t last at all?

I have had the PAD50P1ABL in a rental basement for 2-3 years now and have just bought another one for my basement. It is one of the only dehumidifiers on the market with a 3 year warranty (almost all are 1 year) and I got it for that reason. The box also clearly states (see in video) that the warranty still applies even if you don't register. Its hard to get around 2nd party warranties like this, because Menards will simply credit you if you return it defective. My thinking is that is a strong incentive for them to make a product that will last awhile. I would NOT however, use the white tube and pump, but a regular drain hose instead. The small white tube will plug up eventually with dust, and need to be blown out. To its credit the pump does shut off when this happens and does not burn out, but I'd just avoid the hassle if possible.

I found the instruction manual to be very confusing with this unit. Of course the person who wrote the instructions understands what rhey are saying. Yoo bad they dont know hiow to communicate this properly to others. What about that littyle quarter inch drain hoise. No mention on how tyo stop the water from leaking all over tyhe floor because of the flimsy and loose connection. I think Pelonis could have done a better job explaining all this.
