They are scared because Peltz has made friends of past enemies and will absolutely turn many of the board members around to his view because he knows business better than the whole board combined. This isn't the first major company Peltz has fought and won then turned around. Bob's ego is the problem and thinks he's the smartest when he's far far from it and Peltz will school him on how to do business right.

Iger is just redirecting the profits from the parks to the other Disney owned projects because most of the projects that are failing were Iger's grand ideas/projects. An 81-year-old multi-billionaire is absolutely not the answer for CEO at Disney. I'm not necessarily advocating for any current management in the Disney corp, but Peltz is just as out of touch as anyone. His main accolades all relate to food industry. And just personally, he's a Trump supporter, and I don't trust Trump supporters to do anything but look out for themselves. Do you really think, at 81-years-old, this guy will really care about the product Disney is putting out there, especially in the theme parks? He's an out-of-touch "me first" kind of guy who just wants the status symbol.

The biggest "plus" of Rasulo's Tenure as President of Parks and Resorts, was that he was not as bad as Paul Pressler, who was absolutely awful.. that's not a good thing, because if he hadn't followed a terrible President of P&R, then he'd have been called out for also being a terrible President of P&R.

I know you get a lot of people complaining about a negative report on Disney. As a former CM I can agree 110% that more capital needs to be used in the parks. Instead of doing regular maint. on buildings, grounds and rides, they wait until a full overhaul is needed. That is NOT how Walt wanted it. He wanted the parks to be fresh everyday at opening and being the best they can be. I remember back at Disneyland when it had the BB gun shooting gallery. It was repainted EVERY NIGHT to keep it fresh for the new guests arriving for a day of fun. The two things I would love to see at Disney... Let the Imagineers dream again. It seems as the older ones retire/get forced out, the new talent coming in are beholden to the bean counters. And yes, more capital expenditures. The need to get away from the "Save a nickel, save a dime, spend a dollar every time" mentality. Great reporting Brayden!

To be fair it wasn't advertised. But that's kind of the problem isn't it? Had the movie not been dumped onto Disney+ and been given a normal release with all the usual performance it probably would have done better. So what I mean is, I just want to make sure we are being critical of the executive decisions and not the artists.

@@DocNo27 Soul is fine. It's not amazing but it's fine. Not everything has to be the best or worst things ever. I'd also say you're ignoring executive meddling which is very much an issue. Wish in particular just feels like it was made by a committee of executives who wanted to make sure the big 100th anniversary movie was whatever they thought would be most easily marketable when in reality it just made it bland and unappealing to people.

When Iger and company complained Peltz doesn't have ideas. I am surprised he didn't say something like, well Disney has this Imagineering department already to create the ideas while the job of the board is to pick executives who pick the best of their ideas then fund and execute them. The board members aren't around to be Imagineers, but to make sure their best ideas are funded and implemented.

I do worry that all these Disney film IP based attractions being proposed for the parks are intended as a way to justify the parks being forced to pay royalties to the film division. Do that enough and suddenly on paper the film studio is the division making all the profits even though it's the parks pulling in the revenue.

I get the impression some of the behavior is childish. Being on the board sounds more like high school. For example, what movie and show business experience does the CEO of GM have? The board is a collection of “Friends of Bob.” Awesome reporting B. Disney employees should own shares of the company, Disney needs to stop nickel and diming guests to infinity. With the all the money the parks make employees should make more money and have better benefits.

The studio and media networks are what is struggling right now. It makes sense that Disney would focus on improving results in those businesses at the expense of the parks right now, especially when the interest on corporate debt is incredibly high and park expansions are funded by debt.

They ARE focusing on the parks. In fact, they’re building an all-new attraction in the Magic Kingdom…you may have heard of it, it’s called TIANA’S ADVENTURE. It’s only the first major attraction to feature a Disney princess of color, in a groundbreaking move that places Disney at the top in terms of diversity and inclusion. Are you deliberately ignoring that or are you just letting your racism show?

Brayden, you're kidding yourself. This guy is a classic corporate raider. He wants to see Parks split out, load it up with huge debt (because it is a good cash generator), pay out huge cash dividends as greenmail, then dump his stock. ESPN would be another hot split for Peltz, with wild speculation from Wall Street for the potential sports gambling business. You're advocating for the long term destruction of the parks: If Parks is split out to appease Peltz, they'll be saddled with debt for years to come, then they can't invest anything, the parks will degrade, which will make them prime takeover targets.

I’m a huge Star Wars fan and loved galaxies edge. For like 2 years and now it’s old. I would take back MGM studios in a heartbeat and wouldn’t miss Toy Story land or galaxies edge much at all. Their older rides and experiences were much more timeless and had that sense of magic. Their new stuff is very much about the thrill and immersion but it wears off and they have to hope their content will keep the hype alive. When you have original IP rides they create fans without the need for content then if you want you can create media based off the rides like pirates did which seemed very successful. The older rides when it was MGM were their own thing separate from media to an extent and maybe not thrilling but I think they had their own intrigue, magic, quirk, and overtime nostalgia. I feel nothing for galaxies edge after a very short time and I grew up on Star Wars

The old MGM also had an educational focus about how movies are made from various aspects, animation, visuals, sound, costumes, staging, effects. Just as Epcot once had an educational focus. Animal Kingdom still does, but it may be slowly eroding.

It doesn’t matter that Peltz wants to increase spending at the parks. Of course all the parks fans rejoice! But the main issue is how poorly the company is being run. I mean the movies are terrible with way too much interference from executives. The only good things coming out are anything that have a strong EP like Rick Riordan. But even then you can tell where Disney butted in on certain decisions but thankfully kept the series very high quality thanks to Riordan. If the creatives had freedom like they did many years ago you would see a boom to every sector of the business. The E-Board is there to make sure that everything is making lots of money and running perfectly, not meddle in every line item of the business.

The problem with sparks isn’t just the long several years of cutting costs… It’s that stuff ages, and needs replacing/repair. That shareholders keep wanting more. And that most importantly. The parks are at capacity for park goers. Rides as well. The throughput is always fixed. So there is nothing to do but raise prices until people break. Or you build a third US park.
