I make many 40 ounce pours for my mills and I like to push in thin separators and make the pour with two or three colors. After the pour pull the separators and then swirl. The pouring mixes the colors too much and you can't control it. Sometimes I leave it set for a while for better color separation. It works better. Cheers, Lee

Hi Doug, That looks great. You can still apply a CA finish to epoxy to get the finish you want. I agree with Nena Elliot, very nice color combination. Would the lacquer spray have worked as a finish? I thought that’s what you used before. As I recall, the lacquer made the resin look like glass. And maybe the chrome/silver tubes would help add to the glass effect? Anyway, fun experiment.

I watch a lot of soap making videos with creating very intricate color swirls in the final bars. In regards to your attempts to swirl the colors of your resin in your form, you might want to check out the "drop swirl" technique from soap makers. It might accomplish the design in the resin you are attempting. My favorite soap making artist channel is "Royalty Soaps". Hop that helps.

8:20 A suggestion for how to buff the pens: If you have a Dremel, get a small buffing wheel and use that while the lathe is slowly turning the pens. If you don't have a Dremel, you should be able to get a Buffing Wheel for a Cordless Drill. This should also work for bowls, plates and/or anything else you turn on your lathe. Another possibility is hold a strip of soft buffing cloth up against the work while the lathe is running at very high speed (like sanding but with different cloth).
