This is one of the best tutorials I have found on using the pen tool on the iPad. Thank you for your realistic pace and for breaking everything down into very small steps. I've learned more from your tutorial than from any other video, especially those with gajillions of viewers.

Can you make a tutorial about digital vs. print design in illustrator for the iPad? I am having a tough time navigating rgb to cmyk and the differences between pixel vs vector art.

What you consider drawing by using a whole shape, square shape for example, then erase parts of the shape (square) into the form of your desired image? So, you can start with a closed solid shape with points. In the video you have a custom design as your transparent layer, I would recommend the use of the Square used to be erased into the design form, and use the Square as transparent layer to enable sight of the custom design beneath the overlapping Square. I hope that helps. I thought it was potentially a great way to utilize the eraser tool with the physical Apple Pencil. Also, a solid shape may be erased in only the center of the Shape. So my first example was about erasing the outer parts of a shape until the desired result is attained. This second example would enable such copy-and-paste the same object and if each object has different colors, the eraser tool would reveal colors of the underlying objects. It's kind of inverted process. However it's a time saver such as short cut. Also I would think because the objects were originally default shapes of Illustrator (the Shape square for example) the total file sizes could be potentially smaller. If you know. -J.T

love your your vidz u are an awesome teacher, the problem am having is breaking a point when i wanna start a new one, and when i start a new one the other lines i drew before disappears like ifd i switch from pen to pencil, i need help with this
@AngelaDesignsThings Жыл бұрын
Thank you 😊🙏🏻 Ah I see, to start a new line you will need to deselect the path u finished by switching from the pen tool to the selection tool and tapping the artboard to deselect. To start a new path select the pen tool (or pencil tool) and tap or draw on the artboard. To break a point (as in changing direction) hold down the touch selector ring (that transparent circle for gestures in the bottom corner) and tap and drag the handle of the point you want to break in the new direction. I hope this solves the problem, let me know if I need to explain better.

how do you change the color mode and the ppi on iPad?
@AngelaDesignsThings2 жыл бұрын
This can be done at the start, on the Home Screen. Once you select “Create New” you will see the options to change Units, Size, Artboard Number and Color Mode (on the right). IF you are already working on a piece, you can select the Artboard icon (left toolbar). Go to the Properties panel (with your Artboard selected from choosing the Artboard icon) there you can change the size or select a new Artboard preset (most are in CMYK with ppi of 300 for default presets). Hope this helps 😊

Sorry! I have IPad Pro and pencil 2. I was kinda turned off when you said something about us being on a cpu and not having an apple pen. I have a Wacom tablet on my cpu for like 10 years now which can def keep up with my Apple Pencil. The SINGLE benefit to the iPad and pencil is that I can plop my ass anywhere and get some mad work done!
@AngelaDesignsThings3 жыл бұрын
I was mentioning the experience is different using an Apple Pencil vs a mouse on a desktop computer...I didn’t go into Wacom Cintiq experience. You get a different feel and usage between illustrating with a mouse vs Apple Pencil. That’s awesome that the Wacom stylus and the Apple Pencil are synonymous 👍🏻 Yeah the iPad and pencil are very mobile in comparison 🙂
