Something Unto Death is such a baffling design choice for a boss for this part of the story. Not because of an "instakill" mechanic, but because it's a party size check in the part of the story that you're supposed to be alone for. Up to this point you could beat everything in the story with a team composed of characters that are canonically there, but because of mechanics everything changes here.

if firefly becomes a playable character, adding her to the team and playing this fight in a later update could be considered 'canon'. You could stretch the "canonically there" definition and add black swan to the team (just doing nothing tho) because she's a memetic device that can go anywhere in a dream and was 'present' at the scene before making herself heard. You _maaaybe_ could add misha to the team too : )

It definitely is strange that they made the boss impossible to defeat the way it's canonically fought... it feels like they wanted a super cool and creepy boss to highlight the secret danger of Penacony, but didn't really consider the implications of its mechanics. It's disappointing, really, since the HSR devs are usually really on top of their game when it comes to canonicity in the story

The series demands 'Trailblazer Only', so even if you get stuck here due to only having one character, you can still bring in a second 'Trailblazer' a Friend's Trailblazer if you will. Even better if it's the female blazer im sure you can make a skit of that

I was instantly in love with firefly at first look, it being slowly a date and then making us love her even more ended up in me crying for 30 minutes at one point but then she actually got killed 2 hours later and it traumatized me, am still crying and I dong think I'll ever recover from it TwT I think I'll go sleep at my gf place tomorrow so I can actually feel safe and not get another breakdown >w

8:44 I am 100% convinced that Firefly is Sam (or the person who controls the robot) but that doesn't make her an antagonist. I think the Stellaron Hunters have a similar role to the Fatui in Genshin. They may act as enemies in many places but aren't necessarily against us entirely.

I don’t think it’s really a rule break if you’re only adding in characters simply to be death fodder for an instant kill attack. Simply leveling the playing grounds. The point of challenge runs like this isn’t to see how far you can go until game mechanics artificially stop you, it’s to see how much you can do using your skill and strategy.
