Pendulum - Plastic World ft. TC (2005 'Essential Mix' Version)

remake done by me
this version of plastic world was played during pendulum @ essential mix in late 2005. despite having been revealed way after the release date of the original mix, it seems to be an earlier / incomplete version of the tune.
it has a different structure, way more vocals from TC, no vocals from Fats, an extra muted guitar fill and is lacking in some other small details. we don't know if there's anything else before TC's whispering in the intro so that's where it begins in my remake.
remake details:
some parts done from scratch, others are layers between the final with vocals taken out and the essentials mix version with vocals extracted. i have done my absolute best to ensure that this remake is as accurate to the original as possible (while sounding good also). special thanks to tato for helping out with spotting fine details!

The way this song makes me feel can not be explained in words. Just the way I melt away upon hearing it, just how seductive it sounds. So magical, euphoric and orgasmic all at the same time, it's otherworldly. Pendulum are otherworldly to me and always will be. I was 15 when this album came out in 2005, and I can say without a doubt it was the most impactful piece of music I have ever experienced in my life. I didn't know about Drum & Bass before then, and it opened up an entire new world that just seemed to click perfectly with me. Nearly 20 years later and this track still gives me shivers.

Favourite track from Pendulum. So sad that it didn't have its moment to shine back in the days, imo honestly think this one is very underrated. It’s always like that. I normally have from 3 to 5 versions of a song (not just incremental updates, but actual VIPs) before cementing final version. Pendulum, KP, Noisia etc aren’t anything different, obviously.

in silico and immersion have just as many if not more. the reason why so many from hyc era and before have been found is because many of their sets were recorded illegally (or sold in rave cd / tape packs) and posted online. their tunes were sent directly to adam f / dj fresh who would spread their tunes like wildfire between other DJs, and some they'd send themselves. pendulum relatively respected around that time and the dnb scene does have a certain affinity for archiving old gigs. fast forward to 2007, pendulum leaves BBK and doesn't get in contact with the underground dnb scene as much past that point. their final message in DOA served specifically to piss them off. being signed to warner, attending larger, less underground gigs, being followed by less dnb specific fans and dipping their toes into the mainstream, having management keeping things directly under control, them not going on dogs on acid anymore, results in us not finding people talk online much about their IDs, etc. we have a very small amount of actual line-in dj set rips to work with after 2007. the only way we managed to find new IDs after their breakbeat kaos years was finding them in personal camera / phone recordings of sets which started popping up in great numbers around 2008. and we found many actually but most of them are of terrible quality and cannot be worked with easily. watercolour for one has at least 5 different demos, same for propane. granite has a couple versions too , not to mention witchcraft being reworked twice. different has an apparently completely unrelated predecessor called showtime that only shares parts of the vocal. SMOF has so many demos that it might not even be possible to keep track of (according to el hornet). and so on

I kind of wish they kept the "I can turn a river into fire" lyric for the final version, the rhyme with the next lyric makes it feel like it fits a bit better than "I can look into your thoughts" Fits better with the whole "I can do anything you want" theme too

well the october dj fresh version doesn't really need a remake as what u hear in the video is what he played in full length. the tarantula dubplates will be remade at some how point however, we're still finding new ones!
