I'd be interested in seeing your Moonlight cam work at night to see how much wildlife you can spot. I've never been interested in a penguin prior to watching this vid, going slow like that with pan is almost like a cinequad view but with a more efficient transit. Flying low at distance is very cool.

I hope you don't give up your channel I guess if you decide to move on to X or something, and I'm sure you'll let us all know, I'll definitely be going with you. I know at times you're afraid that. people are bored. but it's not the case. I really enjoy looking at the land and looking for beer. It's not me, it's the Moonlight... lol I haven't even touched any settings in Gyroflow, other than changing the zoom time to 10s so it's less obvious. With the Moonlight, the gyro data is already synced and everything, just dump the files in and export. I haven't been able to get anything close to this with the Pro camera or the Thumb, etc.

The sky and clouds moves separately from the ground after video stabilization. I don't understand why Caddx doesn't notice this problem... It's so annoying... Thank you for another amazing video!

That is a result of having 3DNR enabled. You don't notice it before stabilizing the video, because the details sort of "flow" with the motion of the video, almost like motion blur. It's what 3DNR is supposed to do. Once stabilizing the video though, that motion blur follows the motion of the plane while the video "frame" is stable, so it stands out and becomes obvious. Normally I switch of 3DNR when planning to use Gyroflow later, but on this flight I had left it on, wasn't really planning to stabilize the video then decided to later. Try switching off 3DNR and see if it works better for you.

Good job on the video mate. It was nice and relaxing. Quick question though, what would i search to find the elrs fw branch/version you were talking about? I recently bought one of those 130$, no name, ebay Antenna Trackers and have been looking at the different options for feeding it telem. I have both analog and dji o3 so I would guess elrs is the way to go.? I did set up a 2nd rx and tx on 900mhz for the "airport" feature, but haven't messed with it much. Is that what you use? Thank you in advance!

Have you posted or could you please post your settings for Gyroflow? I still get wobbles and find it hard to find credible advice online. I really liked how smooth this video is. Keep up the good work!

I've never been able to get really good results with other cameras I've tried, like the Pro camera, the Runcam Thumb, etc. The Moonlight works very well with GF though. I haven't touched any setting other than changing the zoom time to 10s so it's more subtle. Just dump the files in and export, you don't even need to sync or anything, it's already synced out of the camera. That's probably one reason it works as good as it does though... lol

I see you have the same problem with Moonlight as me. 3 bar almost near the leg... There is an instruction on wiki.walksnail on how to calibrate. For me it was -4 and it changed a lot.

Yeah this one was a new Moonlight, only flown a few times since putting it on the Penguin and I haven't done the calibration yet. I did notice it needs it though. It drops to 3 bars when leaving standby which is a clear indicator... lol

Nice flight. What a great plane for poking about the edges. Me and another Patreon supporter SALVATORE P. who flies the Penguin have been practicing chasing/formation in the evenings. I better understand why I keep overshooting him with my ZOHD Dart 635mm and it's stall speed of about 28kts.

Yeah the Penguin can slow right down, especially if you keep it light. Just swapping the Nano vtx/cam that was in the nose for the Moonlight and pan servo was noticeable, hence me dropping a wing on landing... lol It was hard to make it quit flying with the lighter camera. With just a touch of power on it will fly around at a high angle of attack and be happy about it lol

Quick question with the vtx so far outside one is susceptible for liquid damage in the clouds right? Or is the heat inside of them protection enough? 😂

Anywhere you mount the VTX, it's going to need lots of airflow to stay cool, so even mounted internal you'll need to duct enough air in and over the VTX that you'd have the same issue anyway. ;)

Have you got any recommendations for pan servo with approx 270° range?

This is one of the better ones I've used. It will give you 270º, but needs a PWM range of 500-2500 to do it, rather than the usual 1000-2000. You can easily extend the range by setting the endpoints in Inav or Ardupilot, but you can't get that wide of a range from any R/C system that I know of, only an issue if you don't have a FC though. ;) Just ignore the feedback wire, I clip them off. www.dfrobot.com/product-1970.html

When I use gyroflow on my pan camera setups it zooms in a lot when I pan right/left. Your setup doesn't do that so I'm wondering what your gyroflow settings were. Did you disable dynamic zooming on gyroflow?

It's 100% defaults with the exception of "Zooming speed" which I raised to 10s, using Dynamic zooming. It still zooms, it's just more subtle about it... lol

This flight is the 4K/60 onboard that's recorded in the VTX, but most of my other flights use a capture card capturing the HDMI output from the VRX. You can tell by the goggles icons along the bottom. ;) For those, I use this one: amzn.to/46LQt6x

do you like the penguin better than the altus? how do you compare them ?

Both are good planes, the Penguin is a bit more forgiving, the Altus a better cruiser. Penguin is great for flying around low and slow.
