Holy shit...this is my stepbrother. I never thought I'd see something like this happen... especially so close to my immediate family. For context, this man has been my favorite stepbrother because he got me into all the nerd stuff and bands like Pink Floyd. Unfortunately he also got into the whole QAnon thing but at the same time he was going through a horrible divorce, with kids involved, from (what would be everyone's pov of him in this video) an equally horrible women who took everything from him including his old job where a lawsuit happened over the whole thing (family run store, and they tried weaving him out even when he wasn't being paid right as the store took a hit during covid). She basically took most everything. It was so hard for him to keep his head up. I'm only partially through the video but...from what I use to know of him growing up to where he's been going.. I'm not surprised but I'm just as upset. This is..not acceptable, as far as I can tell. As you said, Charlie, it sucks to be fired. But this man has been through a lot. Again, doesn't justify anything but do, everyone seeing this, take it with a grain of salt. He's not a karen or anything... he's just hit the bottom of his spiral and tolerance of a lot I think. But it's still not..a great thing to have happened/do. Edit: finished the video. Only thing to add is what I guess at the hard R thing was; having worked at a UPS myself, we put music on the overhead speakers and someone was putting music on that used that. My stepbrother is not racist or anything (I know the Internet law, how that sounds but absolutely believe me. This man was religiously Hare Krishna) and swearing like this is jaw dropping to see from him. I can only assume again, as I said above, he's at his wits end for being fired from a job he needed for his kid's sake. But still unacceptable.

It depends on how the individual looks at it. This guy is nowhere near being in the right about anything he's spouting but the time of firing is highly subjective. I'd personally prefer to be told at the start of my shift, something like "this is your last day, we've got to lay you off. Sorry, do you want to finish out your shift or go home?" Which can be and is done occasionally. It allows the employee to consider whether or not that extra day of pay is worth it to them or if they would rather go home and immediately start looking for a new job. Getting hit with an 'oh, by the way you're fired' right after a shift, especially if it's a rough one, could be too much for some. It also, for many, would feel like an after thought even though it's a huge bombshell. When a life-changing event is downplayed by anyone for any reason it just enhances the anger and rage someone might feel. This guy went about this whole situation in the worst way and even if there wasn't another side to this story that we'll likely never know he made himself look like the bad guy all by himself, worse than even the company could have if they tried.

There are an infinite number of other things you could have done with that time had you known instead of giving it to the asshole who is firing you. The guy recording is a piece of shit so it's no surprise he got fired but this was not about making sure HE got one more day of pay. If it were he would have been notified prior and given the choice to come in and get the last day's pay or stay out and forgo it to wipe their hands of the situation. It was about making sure the business got one more day of work out of you which is scummy behavior even if you're firing a dickhead. Idk why people think it'd be less stressful to get fired when you're fresh and wide awake than at the end of a work shift when you're tired and want to go home. "Oh well I wouldn't have wasted the gas coming in" should strike anyone saying it as strange considering we've had phones for 100 years. The only thing stopping that manager from notifying the dude he was gonna be fired that day was the desire to make sure he wasn't short staffed.

I worked at a dog daycare, I would bring dogs in/walk dogs to their owners, and when I got fired they had me come in, then without telling me had some guy doing my job at the same time. Every time there was a call for a dog, he'd go before I could even get up. This was the entire day, then they fired me and acted like I was the issue for being annoyed they didn't communicate a single thing to me.
