Charlie's cranium is so much more evolved than a regular humans', that when they told him to draw an echidna from memory, he started by drawing the cells that build up an echidna. He was so focused on the smaller details, he didn't have time to draw a full echidna. Truly breathtaking to witness.

@LunarEleven Жыл бұрын
It's actually not possible for everyone. I have been drawing for 35 years and can very accurately draw anything I am looking at, but I can't draw from memory. If it's something I've specifically learned to draw or drawn numerous times with a reference I can passably recreate it, but my memory distorts and loses so much detail. It's impossible to explain, because I DO remember what things look like but can't translate it.
@steffimaier7297 Жыл бұрын
As another artist; I agree. I mostly draw from memory because I'm too lazy to look for references. Finding the right reference can often take longer than doing the drawing (at least for me).

@@LunarEleven That sounds like you might have aphantasia. I recently found out that I have it - meaning I don't possess a mind's eye. I used to think I just have some sort of face blindness, because that's where I noticed it most, but I am not able to "see" anything with my mind. If I close my eyes and try to imagine a red circle, I see nothing. Some people have a milder form of aphantasia and see vague images though. Finding out that I have aphantasia really got to me - I've always been creative and loved reading. Haven't picked up a book since, because I know that I'm missing out on a lot of the experience. The only times I can visualize things are dreams and when I'm stuck deep in daydreams - but either images are gone the second I wake up.

@iluvmesumgrapesoda9869 Жыл бұрын
It’s basically just a lot of practice! But even artists who are professionals still use reference! ^-^ reference is good! But it can be fun just to make art without reference- especially cartoon characters And usually sometimes artists remember patterns or how they make shapes not only with photographic memory, but also in their hands,wrists, etc. I think it’s like when cartoon artists are given a prompt and have to strictly stay to that design given! Usually breaking down the subject into shapes helps too
