A lot of us grew up playing games in a simpler era of gaming and we really wanted to revert to that feeling. It is hard to entirely ignore all the modern trappings (cosmetics help to fund more substantive free content) but we have done the best we can. @@itcanbesoo 8-10 hours of campaign with an absolutely amazing story, unlimited hours in the pvp as its very fun, and many more hours in the pve operations mode, 6 missions each mission is 20-30 minutes each with randomized events, 4 difficulties, 6 classes which all have their own perk trees customization unlocks and weapons to lvl up, if im being completely honest here I think wukong is a bit over-rated its just another souls like with amazing graphics (story was mid) and very good gameplay

Some people were hoping for more character drama and a more complex story. This is however Space Marine, the protagonists have had their minds purged of most human emotions that aren't HATE, the enemies are mostly incapable of communicating (angry bugs and suits of power armour filled with psychic dust), and your sole mission is to murder the enemies of the Emperor to death as everything spirals into literal actual hell. What else were they expecting? The story is basically the equivilent of a particularly spicy Tuesday in the Life of an Ultramarine.

People like human-feeling characters, but the entire post of a Space Marine is to have all humanity purged from them in order to fight cosmic horrors, so it comes off as bland or one note to a lot of people not familiar with 40k

I don't really think that covers for the poor writing though? even the emotions we can see displayed are not well written, characters often randomly acting aggressively or supportive with little to no incentive or reason. Gadriel is basically a cartoonish bastard the entire plot, then has an insane personality change after that one event where it wasn't particularly justified. His arc could have been cool but it was rushed and nonsensical. Chairon's whole purpose in the story is to be... a voice of reason? only for him to then do something really out of character that had no set up before hand because the plot demands it. The captain usually makes the dumbest decisions he can at the time. I'm hoping the PvE coop stuff or the multiplayer are better as the actual SM2 campaign is one of the worst I've played. I was so hyped for this game coming in.

Playing the campaign co op adds a whole layer of attention to detail you’d never get if you only played solo. For example when Titus is hearing voices you only hear them as Titus and friends playing as the other 2 characters don’t so it seems like Titus (or the person playing them) is losing their mind. They also have their own audial hallucinations that you’d never hear unless playing as P2 or P3 in a friend’s game

Hey Charlie, Target Stores have minis based on the video game in a board game of the same name for $40, that includes Official Games Workshop models of Captain Titus , and several Tyraninid models for him to beat up that if you were to go to any hobby store would cost you a lot more to purchase. You still need to get hobby tools like clippers, glue, paint, etc… but just as a place to start, it’s a great place to start coming from the game take it from a 30 year warhammer veteran who knows the tricks. My guy these streamers are just glazing this game like no other, I hated Black Myth Wukong because of the poor optimization but this game even though it has way better optimization by comparison, it's so much worse. You don't feel like a Space Marine in this game, you feel more like a helldiver but 90% of the time you're running around looking for ammo or stims. The Heavy class feels the best and most like an actual space marine. It even does more damage with the sidearm than some of the primary weapons on other classes. The campaign is great, when you're done with that, you have PVE co-op and PVP, the skills are nerfed in Operations mode............not worth the money

I use space marines as military doctrine. They're like a general idea of armored combat infantry. And developing technology around these theorems is very beneficial. The most effective is the Devestator, with a Fusion Beam, and a Storm bolter, and some Sticky Grenades. You could level a building, and repel an infantry and tank attack with one of those. The other favorite is the Assault Squad. Plasma jets for jumping, and 2 power fists, topped with electric spikes... and equipped with a bolter on each wrist, on the outer side.... And a few grenades, can break cohesion of entire units of infantry.

Remember when that was all a game used to be was a campaign, pve side content, and a pvp mode and literally no one had any problem paying 60 bucks for that but now people are so used to battle passes and skins and random events that turn you into Doom from a movie that isn't coming out until 2 years from now it's just insane how far we've come from that little set up you know campaign, pve side content, and pvp mode with maybe a couple DLC challenge maps for the pve side content or maps for the pvp mode to games basically becoming their own little virtual universes because of the advent of the live service model

Also that game is fucking ancient, less was expected then because of tech limitations. Doom eternal is apparently 15 hours to beat, though that is also a game that well justifies its price through its combat and aesthetic. In fact doom eternal and space marine are very similar in that they're short, primarily aesthetic and combat focused. etc. Except doom eternal has an actually good combat system, levels are mostly non structured so far more replayable. There is no replayability to the SM2 singleplayer campaign, 90% of it is filler. On top of that it is poorly written, it's only genuine saving grace is aesthetic and spectactle... which do not make for replayability. I'd sooner put my balls in a blender then fight imurah's first encounter a second time. The final mission admittedly, is one I might replay again but the rest of the game is a no go.

It was fun and fluid but the combinations you had to use for drops, felt a bit forced. Given the fact you (wrongly given the remakes) use REs age as an excuse for its length is hilarious. As someone who beat the game on Angel of Death (highest difficulty in the game)... Don't do it solo unless you're a masochist. Checkpoints are plentiful but a SINGLE hormogaunt can remove a whole armor segment. Also you only have two armor segments. Also you get focused by every enemy. I don't know how I managed to beat the whole thing before the official launch. There isn't even an achievment or cosmetic unlock for doing it.

They do that in normal too. Some of the attacks do not have the blue warning and they still remove an entire armor segment. I feel like only the blue warning attacks should do that much damage, and that it should happen more often. When you get surrounded, it is really hard to get out of the way. Also, fuck chaos minions, they are extremely annoying

People have gotten confused Long games with Good games. Just because a game can be played for 300 hours without no end doesn't mean that alone makes it good, they can be good but generally they aren't. If anything, most open world, 100+ hour games are trashy, McDonalds foods, rare outliers like Elden Ring have corrupted the minds of gamers making them think if a game is below 15 hours it's not worth the money meanwhile they're thinking of a singular game among a sea of Open world slop. I grew up playing these short games, in fact we didn't even call them short games, these were THE games. Of course we had endless or really long grindy games too but generally, these are the games the industry is missing. You knock em out for a good experience, people aren't looking for an experience, they're looking for SOMETHING to waste their life on.

During the first playthrough you can trick yourself into thinking it's the player's fault for not understanding the game, but on repeat playthroughs it just sucks. Charlie: If you're going to start playing the tabletop games, I'd highly recommend starting with Kill-Teams or other smaller games before jumping into full 2000 point games. It's easier to narrow down the army and paint scheme you want to use by starting small. I've seen many jump into the hobby with both feet, and they wind up with a mountain of gray shame. They either get burnt out/discouraged from the shear numbers, don't like the army they chose, and/or wind up with a bunch of extra bits they didn't want or need. Some know the army they want to play IMMEDIATELY, and that's great. There are others that have wasted a lot of money, and time. Starting small can alleviate some of the stress and save money.

Pro tip I just discovered at the end of the game, those piles of green ammo/explosive crates made out of wood you see around can contain items. I just got a stimpack from one after smashing it. The piles are a bit shorter than a space marine usually and often in corners.

Word for those getting into collecting minis, go to Warhammer outlet shops to talk, but go to a few hobby shops to buy. There are a few shops around me city that resell old models people sold back when they got out of the hobby or switched armies, they almost always sell at a discount and is great to poke around for bits and random squads.
