John Huks mate that is probably because you didn't equally level out the line with your thumb correctly and you must have had the magnetic breaking system on fast!

@samosborne37 Hello, yes a few loops there I agree trust it to happen on film, but it wasn't a problem if I wasn't on camera a few steps back to the rod rest and it would have just feathered out, on the casting field we say thats a few loops, a real nest is where you have to cut and re line the reel. Hello no the first part of the film was shot at sandymouth bay in north Cornwall/Devon its right on the border, but you are right it does look like sand pont. Kev B

Nice review, had my 525 for a while now, find it very easy to work with. One question though, how do you generally have your star drag set? I've mine on tight with a couple turns off to ease the tension on the line if i hook a larger fish. Is that sensible?

Is the ball bearing size same as the 525 mags? I have a squall 15 and both of the ball bearings were dented. Please help?

@anhminh20 It was a trial reel beeing readied for production so it shouldnt be very long, I will post the date as soon as I find out, really nice reel though it could benifit from a few tweeks from the older models for the braking knob but very nice all the same. Kev B

@SuperWEBBY2010 Hello matey I didnt try the 515 as its the same reel but holds less line because of the width, I use a 525 because it can hold a decent line and loads of it, if I want to use a thinner line to cast further I use an abu 6500.

Having used both of them, the 515 casts much better than the 525 (sold that on after a few trips out). Can run it much faster, with 15lb line, yellow rocket fuel, and the mags on just below halfway. Probably due to the spool being narrower so the diameter reduces faster.

The squall 15(sql15) is the same as the 525Mag2 and the squall12(sql12) is the same reel as the 515mag2

@MOTOCOMPOUSA I would use the same reel its a real beauty it casts really well and it is very strong, If it had some different pieces on it then it would be better still. Thanks for asking yours Kev B

The Penn 525 Mag 2 (Made in china) is absolute garbage! You have so much wrong; I think you should look at the PMR review where I did take the reel apart and compared it against a US made 525 Mag Extra.

Lol that is a few loops, my fault for Bering too slow with my thumb but it’s a lovely reel, the new version 3 is lovely as well.

That's a Penn squall not a 525 mag

Griffin Geddie hi this was a 525 mag mark 2, it was a pre release version which we managed to get hold of about 6 months before they came to market but I do agree they look very similar, the squall wasn’t around at this point but they are amazing reels the squall series.

Hi Dave, yes all the old ones will come off in the new year but it still works fine, depends what you are watching it on but thanks for looking, I have a few from the old days which people still ask about that’s why they are still there, have a good new year and hopefully a better one next year.
