Magician and Mentalist Dennis Watkins performs classic card magic on Penn & Teller Fool Us.

The fact that Penn & Teller have allowed the individual performers to post their performances on the show on their own personal YT channel is brilliant. It allows the show to reach a larger audience without any extra effort by the show's producers. Those companies that so jealously guard their copyright of intellectual property would learn a valuable lesson from their example.
@SethiozProject3 жыл бұрын
It's not copyright if you're on it yourself. Well it could be, for example if actor plays in a movie or tv series, then they might have to sign an agreement that all the footage and rights belong to a company, but I highly doubt this thing exists in many shows. So if you're on it, then it's not copyright to yourself. And other companies don't learn anything, it has nothing to do with jealousy, it's about profits ... people like you, who have NOTHING, do not understand this. So try to imagine this - you have your own TV show and then someone rips all the episodes and uploads them on youtube and makes money from it, would you be ok with this? I sure wouldn't be ok with someone using my creations to make money off it. However I do agree that shows that are not uploaded to youtube by the copyright holder, should be uploaded by someone else. It's their own mistake for not uploading themselves, because they could make a lot more money off it. Personally I don't even know where Fool Us originally airs. youtube is only place i've ever seen it on. They should have official channel for Fool Us, i'd like to watch full episodes.

what I love about this format, and how its done is even if the contestant's don't fool them, the consolation is always, ALWAYS, sincere praise and a little inside joke and shop talk with a pair of legends in the field. When every other reality show is about aggrandizing failure, and not measuring up, to see such magnificence on display every episode, and even when someone doesn't quite win a trophy, its heartening to see they walk away with pride, with dignity, and with an appreciation from the crowd, and the hosts.

Trick deck they are double faced cards which he turned the clubs in the glass 180 degrees to show the preaerngend final order when placing hanky over glass. Penn and Tellers cards were switched when he turned his back to walk away (why did he still have all cards in his hand?) The pick a card was a force of the 4 see how the 2 cards after were fanned had more surface area than entire hand of cards, He went well past the four which was not fully exposed. He went fast from start and slowed over the 2 exposed cards, watch his finger stopped moving almost go backwards when hovering over the 4 and then reach way back up above where his finger stopped to grab the 4. He didnt tell her to say stop until his finger was 1/2 way around and moved fast until then . Then a pinky break or 2 a So he could disguise the switched stacked diamonds. Now switched covered 2 sided cards the clubs and switched prearranged stack of diamonds to match the trick stack of clubs. Watch how he turns the clubs over so we cant see the chronolectal side of the trick deck. Way to much emphasis on trivial things to convince us away from the deception. Lifting glass higher made a big deal so he can twist it 180 degrees. Look at the bottom card as Teller handed them back it was a 3 and that would have been the first card but the first card was a 5

Good stuff, Dennis! This was fun and original. I do magic as a hobby and want to do this trick....and I got it all down...but since the first and biggest piece involves special cards in reference to their code word....it's a challenge to put it together. Using the wine glass under the handkerchief is a classic move that is still very effective!
@Gashdal2 жыл бұрын
i assume the relevant code here is 2 faced. so it involves some kind of gimmick card with 2 sides or something like that?

@Vidar933 жыл бұрын
It's only a one deck switch, a slight, a force and some gimmicked cards. I guess you could technically say it's two deck being swapped since he has the gimmicked one and the clean one so there are two types in use but he swaps on deck and swaps for the ordered hand.

When Teller gave him the cards, I can see the last card was the 5 of diamonds and it remains the last card through the trick. Was he lucky or did he gave them a bunch of 5's to mix ? Also the 4 of clubs was the only card on the whole deck of clubs that was not gimmicked.

Penn mentioned being "two-faced." The clubs were two faced, one side in order, one side in "random" order. When he's putting the handkerchief over the glass he rotates the glass 180 degrees so the ace is now facing away from the audience. After he has Penn and Teller shuffle he switches them with cards he still has in his other hand that are in the same "random" order. The audience members card was forced on her and when he puts it back in the deck he knows where to put it.
