I graduated high school in 2009. The idea of a high school wrestler beating anyone in college seemed unimaginable. Now it happens almost every week. The game has definitely changed a lot in 14 years.

What are you talking about........ There's freshman that place in the NCAA tournament every single year.......

It happened back in my day as well. Randy Lewis was beating D1 All Americans when he was still a HS kid, as was Dave Schultz. Cory Kolat did the same a few years later. These HS kids today might have 300 or more matches under their belt by the time they graduate HS, they are old pros by the time they hit 18 years old.

It's happened alot over the years (Kolat, Schlatter, Lewis)... but it does seem to be happening more with this match, Bo Bassett, & Blaze.

Has there ever been such an insane group of world level lightweights in high school? Off the top of my head theres lilledahl, knox, blaze, bassett, forrest, valencia, the raneys, castillo, kenny, bachmann. Thats only the guys that are big on freestyle that come to mind and theres already 7 world champs. Edit: munaretto was world champ, bachmann was world bronze but point stands

tbf though Lilledahl was a 3 seed while Courtney was unseeded. Just like the match of Dean choking against Mirasola in which Flo titled the video like it was a huge upset. Mirasola was a 5 seed and Dean was unseeded. Folkstyle success does not mean freestyle success.

Yeah...when i was growing up and wrestling in the same area in Pa. as this kid...I had no idea i was competing in one of the most competitive areas in country. I had the privilege of wrestling kids who went on to be NCAA division 1 champions (Jim Martin from Danville who still holds the record at Penn State for most career wins and Jack Cuvo from Easton who went on to win 3 NCAA division 1 national titles). Yep... im going way back to the mid-80's! Hell...Jim Martin even set the Pennsylvania state record for most career wins (at that time) by beating me during our dual match...Berwick vs. Danville. It was actually a battle and was 0-0 at the end of the 1st period. The final score was 5-0 but Martin waa given 2 points as i was called for staling on the bottom in the 3rd not to mention a very controversial takedown he was given right at the end of the 2nd period. He was interviewed after the match for setting the career wins record and was kind enough to admit he knew it was going to be a tough match since we had wrestled 2 prior times in wrestling tournaments. But these kids today are off the charts at this point in their wrestling careers! Ankle-pick was one of my favorite takedown moves btw.

If the title was "highschooler has good/close match with NCAA Finalist" I think I would be more likely to click on the video @FloWrestling Instead of spoiling it just do that man.

They're not concerned about their viewers, nor the popularity of wrestling. It's time for flo to go
