In a quality game that kept viewers entertained all the way throughout the fourth quarter, Penn State outlasted the Hoosiers of Indiana to get the win. It was a match-up of two top-20 ranked teams, with Indiana holding a slight edge in the rankings. Early on, Ki-Jana Carter carried the offense. Late in the game, Bobby Engram carried the offense. Collins played very well and the offense moved the ball most of the day. The defense played well against the run, but struggled mightily against the pass, and that is what allowed the visitors to hang around with the Blue and White until the end. Indiana receiver Thomas Lewis had an absolute monstrous day with 12 catches for 286 yards and 2 TDs. But in the end, it was pressure on the Hoosier quarterback that forced a late interception by Tony Pittman to stop Indiana's final threat to score.
