Probably they would say something like I have been around for a long time and have done a lot of great fishing because my owner took the time to clean of service the reel on a regular basis. The others are probably in a landfill and not talking!

it's line capacity is close to a Jigmaster, the drags are different, this with a 6-60 and the 500 with the 6-309, which seems to be larger

Yes - the larger Surfmaster 250 was the standard until Penn improved it with larger gears and called it the Jigmaster. That was in the 1950s. The Surfmaster 200 and the Squidder 140 are nearly identical except for the bearing configurations on the side plates. Sometimes folks mistakingly call the Surfmaster 200 the Squidder Junior, but that is actually intended for the narrow frame 145 Squidder

It was. It shares many of the parts with the 140 Squidder. The big difference is in the bearings. The gearing is interchangeable
