PENNIES TO POLESTAR | CAR FLIPPING UNTIL I GET MY DREAM CAR!

If you know me you know my dream is to own a Volvo V60 Polestar, however it’s massively out my budget! A short while ago I bought a 1.2 Vauxhall corsa off of Co part, which I fixed and then sold to my brother. The money then allowed me to purchase this Volvo v40, which if I do say so myself was a golden find!
Who’s excited to see what this car gets us next?👀

Airbag SRS could be because the seat belt ignitor has blown, which is why it wouldn't retract 🤔 you need a scan tool if fixing up cars to get your dream 🎉

Ive just had a look on KZbin about changing bulbs on the S60! it looks pretty simple, nobody has said anything about the bumper needing to be removed!😜, im sure you would be more than capable of taking on such a task Emily, its so good to watch a lady getting so involved in solving the problems of routine car problems, good on you girl! 🤩👍

Looks a decent car, I’d say air bag light is seat belt too, a replacement might need coding to the car, I use a LAUNCH diagnostics reader, really good tool to have for fault codes and not expensive, you can get different models where some code too, mine codes injectors and a few other things

Most things on a volvo are pretty easy & straight forward to do Emily, it must be the best designers in the world who sit down & think of making everything dead easy, replacing a headlight bulb is a doddle, 2 pegs to pull out & the bulbs are all straight forward! why they dont make all cars like this???.😀

WD40 is a water repellent so to begin it may help but make sure follow it up with a spray containing PTFE such as GT85

I did a friends V40 when the interior door handle did not work, but outer did...So removed the door card and found where the cable for the interior door handle clips in, had back and forth movement which resulted in the cable to slip and not open from inside....One cable tie later (as tight as you can) all was good....

WD40 is a waste of time. You want GT85 for the lock barrels where the key goes in and then white lithium grease for the other moving parts. The seatbelt might be stuck because of an accident. What I would do is get on VCHECK and buy a pack of 10 basic checks and check this car to see photos of what it's been through. I think it's about 3 quid a pop. It might have been in a more serious accident, partly fixed, and sold privately on copart for whatever reason. If you intall a new seatbelt, you're going to need a diag tool. DO NOT GET CARLY! It is the worst POS ever made. The best value by far is xtool anyscan a30d as it has no subscription and does a lot of stuff on a lot of cars. Or get the thinkdiag I think 100 quid for 2 years it's supposed to be good. Now's the time to stock up on T25 and 10mm they just disappear.

Try taking the a screwdriver open the rear door and find a hole. PS I have the exact same car with all the extras and the top entertainment system with D4 engine for sale. Your engine is an early new Volvo engine, it’s not french

For getting rid of the smell, there used to be a popular car detailing KZbinr called 'Autoshine Cars' who used to clean some really filthy car interiors and if they smelled bad, he'd put an ozone machine inside it and leave it on overnight.

Looks like the igniter in the Seat belt reel has gone off which would probably explain why you have an SRS fault. Remember usually when any part of the SRS is triggered you will need to have the Airbag module reset.

I picked up a low-milage Polestar XC60 this week after spending some time looking for a V60, test driving a few and thought the XC60 was better in a lot of ways for very similar money! These V40's should keep their value for a while. Nice milage too; these 1.6 d2's can do 200-250k miles without major issues. I know diesel might be a bit dear in the UK, but this one will do 22km per liter easily on long stretches or 50ish mpg? Bought my British wife one of these at the beginning of this year since shes on the road a lot. Shame you recked the seatbelt. Most often a clean/wipe will do the trick. Love from Holland!

everyone knows you can use Volvo Vida to unlock the front door, even after all you done to the lock with WD40 the door will still end up locking you out from opening again in 4-5days as its not the first stage lock you have to worry about its when stage 2 double locks the door thats when it locks you out so when you locked the car with key then opened it, it wasnt fully engaged untill after 2-3mins of it being locked

The 2.0 d2 euro 6 is also a terrible engine oil consumption is a massive problem . Piston oil control rings are a huge problem block up with carbon due to egr making oil so dirty.

Sadly not at around 75000 miles full Volvo s/h my V40 d2 2017 started using oil up to 1lt every 750 miles . Had it into Volvo £1500 later and it was just the same so gave up on it and traded it in . Would never buy a newer Volvo again . Son had a xc90 2022 recharge it always in dealer for some problem 👍
