My father was born 2 years before this reel was made. He was born in Groenveldt West Coast. Amazing that I can get a glimpse of the world he grew up in.

Watching these old reels like, damn. Anyone of them could be my ancestor’s & wouldn’t even know it. My grandpa was born I think in Georgetown, don’t know much about him. S/o to my unknown relatives 💜💯

It seems like Guyana was much cleaner when they were under the British.

Depends on where she lived. People who lived in Georgetown rarely saw the interior. There was not the easy means of travel we have today.

I questioned it once I saw mountains in the background. I’m thinking Trinidad and Tobago

The only recognizable building was Stabroek Market. Hotel Tower was another recognizable name but it sure looked ramshackle.

Where is the sound?

The film was made silent, no sound recorded on home movie cameras at that time

This is not British Guiana, might be Trinidad and Tobago. There is no Indian village with mountains in the background in Guyana (British Guiana). See at 3:47. From 9:55 details scenes in Guyana (then British Guiana)

Exactly. The mountains are a dead giveaway.

@@lynnetteagard7828 What are you talking about🤦🏾♀️ Guyana got interiors, not just mountains, and different regions of the landscape with many sceneries it's big and it's not Trinidad and Tobago being shown Guyana was beautiful back then that's how it looked back then
