Pennsylvania's state forests and parks were greatly transformed and improved by the efforts of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) during the 1930s and early 1940s. Pennsylvania was well suited to take advantage of the CCC, with devastated forests ripe for replanting and new management methods. Pennsylvania would eventually have 153 CCC camps, second only to California. The Pennsylvania Lumber Museum is home to a relocated CCC-built log cabin and one of the CCC Workers statues.
