Penny had the biggest 5 year impact of any player before injury his highlights speak for it self we not going to discredit him as a basketball player because he came in the NBA as an already elite player simply put the man was a cold mfkr Penny was the truth that's why his retro sneakers will always be popular.

If you were born in the 80’s and seen when the Foamposites were first introduced in 97 and they actually was suppose to be for Scottie Pippen. Mike Bibby actually showcased it first when he played for Arizona. Fun fact Jordan actually rocked the Nike flight and cut the “1” off and hooped in it

One thing I respect is his ability to come up with the foampositie and play in it
@twentyoneHz Жыл бұрын
he didn’t come up with it, he found the sample and was lucky enough to get his name out with it. eric avar and his team at nike actually designed the sneaker; with scottie pippen (as mentioned in this interview) in mind, but penny had got to the sample pack first. penny wasn’t even the first to wear them on the court. although the first to wear them in the nba; mike bibby for UoArizona wore them during the ‘97 playoffs UCAA season. penny wore them later that season in the nba.

I lived in FL during "Penny's prime and those Orlando teams was what made me a Magic fan and still am to this day. I did not realize until watching this and seeing the graphic of his shoe line that the royal blue / black foam posites were a part of his line, that's one of the shoes I use in NBA 2K when I wear Orlando themed outfits or need a shoe w/ royal blue in them. During my 20 yrs of living in FL, I 16 of those I lived 30 mins outside of Orlando and for a job shadow class my 10th grade yr in high school in "96 I shadowed Glen Dehmer, former channel 9 weekend sports anchor and he happened to be coving the Orlando Magic practice that day for a game vs the Kings that night. And, so I got to meet some Orlando players, that day including "Penny", NBA TV's Dennis Scott, and NBA Hall of Famer Mitch Richmond. So, now anytime I see "Penny" or see him in a story involving his coaching his almu mater Memphis, I think back to that day. I would love to be able to still find a few pairs of his shoes to add to my collection as a keepsake.
