0:33 In the skateboard world, wheelbase is usually measured by the distance between the two closest truck mounting screw holes on the deck. As far as I know, more than 95% of the skate companies measure their wheelbase this way, regardless of street deck, longboard or surfskate.

As someone who is no where near as tall as you and this being my first surfskate of any kind, I find it is a perfect fit for me. I love just getting out and cruising, and with the adapter on this board, it just adds that extra bit of fun to my usual cruises. Using it to learn how to pump and then carving downhill is just so much fun!

I just bought three for my kids, and they're actually perfect for me. 😂 The only thing I'd change on the setup is adding the rail adapter.

@@wuffgang5333 hard to tell for me, personally I would say for you the board is rather small/short and you can’t adapt the wheelbase on this board. However in the Penny commercial guys are riding this board and they don’t seem as tiny as I am - so it is possible. Maybe try another 29" surfskate at a local shop and then decide.

You can use lithium grease to help with the squeaks. Apply some around the squarish, urethane bushing thingy. It feels pretty dorky squeaking past people lol.

Nice review, detailed & informative. You have a superb channel that is proper and your quiver is definitely impressive. Do you also surf in the ocean? When did you start surfskating? My current surfskate quiver in order of purchase: Carver C7 Swallow Tail, Penny Highline, Waterborne Surf & Rail Adapter on a Landyachtz ATV Ditch LIfe Birds & CX Trucks with loose bushing kit on a Landyachtz Tugboat. The Highline works for me since I'm about the same size as Ryan Sheckler. I thinking of adding a Yow to my quiver, should I consider a Yow complete or just get an S5 adapter or the Meraki truck kit?

Thank you! I don't surf. Whether or not you should get a complete or just the trucks depends on your level of knowledge and expertise with custom builds.

I bought this board. Love it.. its fun and all but it was just a little to small and the wheels as well. Bought myself a carver blacktip 32,5" CX trucks and at the same time i bought the waterborne adapters front and back for the carver. Damn that just made the board complete 🥳🤩 how loose do you keep your trucks? Sometimes i feel like if they are to loose there is no resistance and harder to get speed ..? Im a beginner though.. gave my penny board to my son 🥳🤪

Honestly, I don't do a lot of adjusting on stuff. I like to just grab something off the shelf and ride. I'd have to see your set-up with Waterborne on the Carver.

I grabbed one just because it’s cheaper to buy a complete from penny then buy the parts so I’m going to set it up in a loaded coyote deck with some slime ball wheels

I'm in Mexico and there are not many options to pick up a board quickly. There is a Santa Cruz with Carver CX trucks, a Z-flex for 350usd, and a Penny High-line. I want the board to do dryland training for surfing. What one would you recommend?

Is it fairly easy to foot-drag to stop this Penny, or does the Waterborne surf adaptor make the deck too wiggly to balance 1 foot on its deck while dragging your other foot to stop? How do you stop? Power slide stop?

Hey Steve! My Carver got stolen and I ended up with a Highline because of the affordability factor. Curious what your opinion is on which of your Surfskate wheels would give a more authentic experience as well as bushings. Im a bigger guy about 6’ 240

What a bummer! It depends on some factors, but for that Highline you'll want to go with the 65mm in either 78a or 81a. 78a if you ride rougher surfaces and you want it to feel a bit more comfortable. 81 if you ride smoother surfaces and want to do snaps and slides. Hope that helps!

No not at all. This would be a horrible commuter board because of the very narrow wheelbase and small, hard wheels. You could change the wheels out, but it still won't work well.

I reccomend a cruiser like the dinghy for a to b. The penny surfskate is really fun, wouldn't want to use one in any rush though.

I would not buy this as a first surfskate. Something like a Carver resin would work well for you. CX trucks. Wheel size is standard in stock models, typically 66mm-69mm.

Hello Steve, have u tried putting the waterborne rail adapter on the Penny HIgh-Line? I've recently got the Penny High-Line but found the back truck a bit too tight comparing to how flexible the front adapter is... leaving one of the back wheels off the ground when doing tigher turns. I've tried to loosen the back truck a bit, it felt better but turned out the whole back truck came off after an hour of riding. If you did tried the rail adapter on the Penny High-Line please share your thoughts. Thanks :)

Never tried, but I highly doubt it. The raised waffle pattern doesn't give it anything to stick to.
