Once Penny asked Leonard if she was a dumb blonde who would only pick jerks to date : may be cold, but this scene proved that yes, kinda Thing is Penny is the kinda of girl who would immediately melt like butter on a toast once she would how hot and charismatic a guy was and not try to know him better first ; she would immediately throw herself fully in the relationship, not taking the time to know him, not realizing that just because the guy has charm, it doesn’t mean he’s a good, honest and sincere man

I often wondered how much older Leonard is than Penny. She’s only 22 in this episode (it’s mentioned). But to my knowledge we’re never told how old Leonard is. He has a PhD and had been working at the university for a couple years before he met Penny. There’s no indication that he skipped grades like Sheldon.

If Leonard was miserable it's because he was obsessed with a trophy girlfriend/wife as opposed to choosing a companion/partner. Looks fade, people grow older, it's character and personality that'll still be there when that man/woman hits 40 years old. Choose wisely. That pudgy, bespectacled girl sitting next to you with the great sense of humor and dynamite cooking skills may not be as good looking as the hot ex-cheerleader from finance, but in a decade or two, both will be equal in attractiveness but the pudgy girl will still be fun to be around! But if men select primarily based on looks then I for one don't feel sorry for them.
