I sometimes get the sense that Jason fleshes out his NPCs through improv, on the basis of what the players show interest in. "Geri with a G or an J?", "With a G, no one ever asks.". It's quite possible Jason never gave a second thought to the spelling. But Vampire is a social game, and responding positively to the things players sink time and attention into makes the characters feel exceptionally socially adept. All of Jason's games seem to just flow, seamlessly, without stutter or dead ends, and yet the player characters are always the most interesting thing on screen.

It's probably a bit of GM improv trickery. He'll have a few archetypes or NPC hooks in mind and a few of their mannerisms he's able to act out, but fleshes out the details as he goes. It's prepared, but not super-detailed. Kind of the way you'll have a spare dungeon or encounter on-hand for the players to "discover," when in reality, you'll have pulled it out if they ever go off the beaten rails. A few of the older D&D modules and supplements I read are kind of like this, with just random tables and encounters to fill out the gaps when you need to suddenly improv.

Love how quickly the characters are bumping up against one another's convictions and ambitions. And Luis's character is really coming alive here, great addition to the cast. Really has me wanting to play Vampire sometime

The original Seattle by Night was amazing, I've gone through it as a podcast so many times. You always get the best lines with Mike at the table, such as 'You have to be careful, a lot of people are allergic to Gehenna'. I also really appreciate Jason's ability to keep the table grounded and, well, dark despite the sometimes wacky antics of this particular coterie. I'm super excited for Season 2! Seattle by Night was definitely my gateway back into the WoD since playing WtM:Bloodlines over a decade ago and now you've got me looking up all the weird and wonderful lore of the various WoD settings and watching playstreams. It's going to be hard for me to catch the streams live with the time difference, but I'm going to be devouring these as they come out!

I love any game where Jason is the ST. I feel when I run a chronicle, like my expectations in my mind, is NY by night. Dire and brooding circumstances with inner turmoil in the group, with dramatic character arcs. My reality is Seattle by Night, with a player trying to centerfuge a bean burrito with blood. That being said, there are moments where Seattle by night is just as dramatic and dark. Thank you Mr. Carl, for the class in storytelling.

Usually when someone's in the position Tom is in they're a Caitiff (like Oliver in LoadingReadyRun's Vancouver Island game), so the fact that Tom knows what clan he is makes me even more interested. Something weird might be going on here.

Well a lot of set up, a divergent tangent about hostile local geese, then mostly more set up. Main leh sigh is, I get you don't want to be seen but rolling up with a ski mask just makes you look suspicious as hell, if its not a blizzard outside or you aren't skiing, sunglasses and a hat is far better, and facial mask is still socially acceptable.
