1961 Pontiac Laurentian, Rust Repair And Shining Up The Bumpers

Cory does some rust repair and buffs up the front and rear bumpers, on the Canadian 1961 Pontiac Laurentian.

Good job Cory . There's a product you can get at canadian tire called "autosol" to shine up those bumpers and it works well . Household cleaners are not going to cut it .

Steel wool and spray nine will clean up chrome pretty good.

Love the chrome option s they had on the Canadian model pontiacs ,,.& they had to shoot the fender right in a body line 😃 4 ought steel wool & mother's polish cleans bumpers up pretty good but it does leave fine scratches 👍 👍 👍 👍

Excellent video Penny's Crew Cory :) also for clean Bumpers do nice is 60 % Vinegar , 10 % of Tide Laundry Soap basic one , 40 % Hot Water mix up till bubbles look and use Vechile Restoration Steel Wool to scrub with solution fluid 2 times too also wash off good too!

One thing is sure Cory, the bumper might be hard to clean but your hands will have a nice clean layer of skin!😲 With all the tips you got I'm quite sure you'll get it clean. I'm impressed that your 60 plus yr old bumpers are in decent shape! Go Penny's and keep scrubbing Cory!!!

Duct tape. Couple layers. Mark your brake bends, carefully peel it off and slit it to lay flat. Stick it on the sheet metal and cut away the sheet metal that isnt covered in tape. Copy the bends, form the rest, and pull the slits together and weld. Sometimes they are a bear to fix.

The aluminum foil trick has worked well for me in the past. Some even use the foil with coca cola believe it or not.

My 2 cents for cleaning a bumper, try some heavy duty compound with some abrasive in it (like 3M 05954) and a wool buffing pad and try leaning into it with a buffer--it might take it down to the steel!😆

Autosol with a 4" pad on a variable speed grinder works great for chrome. Be prepared to wear it.

Having worked in a chrome shop many years ago. What is going on with your rear bumper is the chrome has worn down to the nickel. There There's no way that I am aware of to get it to shine except to rechrome it. Mike!
