All that happened was the roosters actually got a couple penalties awarded. I know they usually don't penalise the roosters for anything, but you need to realise the roosters are the poster team for professional fouls and leaning on the ref for an advantage. They had a bloke sent off the last 4 times they played Penrith. It's not an isolated issue, it's a systematic problem with how the roosters play and lean on the refs. Then their fans write columns in the Sydney papers and argue that the roosters should have gotten away with more. This whole league plays favourites, is run to the preference of the betting companies and media companies and it undermines the fairness we expect as fans.

I can't believe Matt Thompson said Penrith and Eastern Suburbs are arch-rivals. I have never heard anyone in the media or on social media indicate that before. Where is the rivalry?, they played in the 2003 Grand Final which Penrith won, they had a finals game back in 2014 which Penrith also won...anything else?

At the end of '94, when Phil Gould left Penrith to coach the Roosters and took Brad Fittler with him, it built a real resentment here towards the Roosters. It's never really left.

This is why the NRL is protecting Cleary so much: It’s all because of Wally and the origin thing. Sterling, Kenny and Mortimer were great but Wally was better and made origin. They never got over it so they made Joey Johns a massiah and the premiership the holy grail, because that’s the only thing nsw we’re able to achieve. Then came Lockyer, smith, Thurston and Slater. Joey was buried. They then have to find a new Messiah. I’ve never seen Cleary pull games like Wally or Alf did when their packs were getting rolled or matched. He can only do it from the front or with blatantly biased reffing. They got 12 points tonight directly from woeful reffing. Fair call they never get the chance to score
