Your planner video was a refreshing view in a niche that often feels overcrowded- so many planner channels where they don’t even show their face. Looking forward to your continuing series

I like the music you used today. I agree with you that it may not be as beautiful as the last piece, but it seems to set the right mood.

Thank you! I think I've settled on this piece, but I liked the others, so I want to find a place for them on the channel.

I loved your video, as always... I do have a Kaweco Dia2! 🤣But the chrome trim version. I like it a lot, just wish it was a bigger with a bigger nib. But this is really more in line with their vintage piston-filler models: also not very big and with a kind of small nib. I would like to watch some collaborations and Chris Saenz would be one of my favourites, for sure. As you are my favourite pen KZbinr I would really enjoy to have a video with you, if you find that interesting. Although we are in really different time zones and my English is not as understandable as yours! 😁

I am a fan of their vintage piston-fillers! We will have to figure out a good date and time. I'm going to pull out my calendar this weekend and start figuring out dates and contacting people.

To keep the cord from the new camera out of the way, wrap or coil it around the stand. Voila! That’s what singers will do with their microphone cord: wrap it around the microphone stand. Just be sure to give a little slack at the camera end to allow for reorienting it. I hope this helps.
@pensane17 күн бұрын
By the way, I watch you on my big screen TV, so 4k is good. In my videos, I mostly film in 4k to allow for zooming in on things in post.
@WaskiSquirrel16 күн бұрын
Good ideas about the cord and using 4K to zoom in. I hadn't thought of either idea!

Nice music! Also, can you keep the lights up all year? They are a shiny spot in a dim world. Thanks for the heads up about the Bailey. I'd never heard of it. I don't need 4k. It's far more important that it be in focus. ;-)
@WaskiSquirrel16 күн бұрын
I do enjoy the lights! I'll probably take them down at the end of the month or into next month because I have to live with them. I do get tired of them in the living room! Some issues with focus, but I'm learning to work with this camera. I agree that focus is more important than 4K.

Isn't it great when an inexpensive pen happens to have an extraordinary nib? My TWSBI 580 Rose Gold has a medium nib that has such lovely bounce. It's one of those pens in my very small collection that sometimes lies fallow, but then I ink it and remember how pleasant it is.
@WaskiSquirrel16 күн бұрын
It's always such a wonderful surprise! That Bailey is a nice pen, and I'll have to try a more fun ink in it.

Boy in German is ‘junge’. But knabe is more akin to ‘lad’! Regional and antiquated. I learned something new today. I agree on resolutions, when I resolve to make a change i start then. New year is a good time to think about it, but so are birthdays.
@PURau17 күн бұрын
Knabe does mean boy, but it is a rather obsolete, now quite literary term. It does not mean lad, that's far too colloquial. Der Junge means boy. But in postwar WestGermany Boy would have sounded very hip and trendy.
@WaskiSquirrel16 күн бұрын
That's a good point. I originally learned Knabe, but it was in an older book. When I took German in college, it was Junge.

I would never have guessed the 4K filming (I watch on a potato) 😄

No worries! I haven't noticed the difference on other channels except when told to look. Is it my brain trying to convince me there's a difference?
@ShadowHawk35717 күн бұрын
I couldn’t agree with you more concerning Pelikan. Sure, the transparent binde is nice to see the ink level, but above and beyond that, it’s quintessential Pelikan! Big, big mistake that they’ve made the stripes opaque. I will not be purchasing any new Pelikans with the solid stripes. Very sad :-(
@WaskiSquirrel16 күн бұрын
I was looking at pictures of the new finish, and it's really lacking depth. I don't understand why they made this unpopular change.
@Calcprof16 күн бұрын
But of course, the resolution (in dots per inch, say) is proportional not to 2K or 4K or whatever, but rather to its square root. So 4K vs 760 is not as huge as one might estimate.
@WaskiSquirrel16 күн бұрын
That's true. I'm stunned by the awful resolution of my first digital video and pictures, but more recent video has been more than good enough for the screens I use.
@louishalleux17 күн бұрын
4K is useful for cropping and editing without losing image quality.
@WaskiSquirrel16 күн бұрын
That's a good point. I'm amazed how many more pixels are available in these videos!
@sathishrao792616 күн бұрын
Did you consider Cross Bailey as a pocket pen ? I’m not sure why.. My Bailey Light is as lengthy as a regular pen. Chris Saenz is also a great choice for your collaboration. IMHO, 4K is an overkill for Fountain pen related indoor videos watched on mobiles (and even big screen TVs).
@WaskiSquirrel16 күн бұрын
I consider it a good pen to use every day. Hopefully I didn't say it was a pocket pen because it is not. Not sure how I feel about 4K, though I do like the closeups the new camera is capable of, once I figure out how to use it.

I have tried for a long time to get a Kaweco Dia 2 from Germany but they aren't playing ball. Hard starts? A pippett and a few drops of Monteverde pen flush - never fails if there's ink in the pen.
@WaskiSquirrel16 күн бұрын
It was specific Kaweco nibs I had trouble with. I haven't tried putting pen flush in with ink, though...
@MrAndrew195316 күн бұрын
@ I've unscrewed the nib unit from the pen (put the the barrel in a glass upside-down),given the nib a good clean with pen flush and water. Then put the nib unit back in. Dip the nib in Diamine Ancient copper. Works with stubborn hard starts. I have a Conklin wooden All American that can get a little hornerary at times.

Since you have a Cognitive Surplus Theory notebook, Adam (also known as ‘An Ink Guy’) recently did a video where he reviewed various products from that brand. Not just notebooks, but also pads too. He did bought everything with his own money, just so you know. (Teaser: He’s a math(s) teacher, so he likes to get all nerdy.) - If you got the time to take a look at his video, you might be pleasantly pleased. - By the way, I am also a night person and I tend to stay up late until around 11pm to 12 midnight. Reason being is that I’m a university student who is desperately trying to write my dissertation worth 8,000 words! I’m not ashamed by it, though…
@WaskiSquirrel16 күн бұрын
I do plan to check out Adam's video. Not many people have talked about this brand, so I'm very curious what he has to say. I'm usually not a night person, unless it's a hot night or I'm staying up because I'm waiting on cooking to finish. I used to be a night person in college!
