ok, i'll confess... it was me... i bought the centropen... i hope you think it will have a good home when it arrives... when i saw your review of the pen last year, i fell for it and started looking for one without success... so, when you announced last week that uber pens had it, i jumped at the chance, even though it was beyond my usual price range... i remembered what you said about how well uber pens handled your previous purchase from them... jason, you really are doing a service for the pen community with your reviews, especially reviews of the lesser known (at least to me) pens, such as the pens you have from eastern europe... thanks so much!

I'm sure it's headed to a good home. I agree! It is now in my top three most expensive pens. And I just put my third fill of Pelikan Violet in it in a row. I hope your nib is as amazing as mine. I'm glad to hear you're enjoying my reviews, especially of the lesser known pens.

It's a good thing that Carmen didn't eat all of your Sheaffer Balance, now it's still there and it has a story to tell.

I'll admit, I laughed out loud!

Kaweco V 14s seems like an excellent replacement for your fine lamy 2000.

It is. It's a great pen.

I've seen Lamy 2000 nibs available even here in New Zealand at less than half the cost of buying the whole pen. I did suspect they might be difficult to swap out though. I don't have a 2000 yet, still trying to decide between the fine and the broad. Your videos on that were no help - they both sound awesome!

I want to thank you for your comment. I am clearing out all my comments older than a few months with this generic comment, but I want you to know that I did read your comment, even if I missed it when it was originally posted.

I didn't understand reading for fun when I was a kid. It wasn't until I was out of school that I discovered reading for fun.

I was always a reader, so that's why I struggle with this mindset.

Waski, firstly thank you for the info on the Pelikan converter to try in my Lamy 25P, i will be getting one to try it out. The Centro pen looks a bit like a vintage Pelikan very nice indeed. Very nice array of pens thank you very much for sharing.

I hope the converter works for you!

Great pens in use video as always. Thanks also for the book review - I must admit that I'm not much of a reader, because I'm too selective in my subject matter, but this book does sound interesting nonetheless.

It is interesting, and not something I have read before.

Thank you for the comparison of a few pretty purples. If you like apocalypse type fiction I just finished Player One: What Is to Become of Us by Douglas Coupland. If you like speculative fiction that is not sci fi, Super Sad True Love Story is a gem and maybe has a lot in common with the current state of things. If you want fantasy elements mixed with apocalypse stuff, The Bone Clocks by David Mitchell is fantastic. (Same author as Cloud Atlas, but I liked Bone Clocks much better.)

I really can enjoy apocalypse fiction. I will look for these books. Thank you!

You crack me up. I watched the first 3:48 and had to stop and leave a message. You know that some people would call that an ocean life theme rather than something edible. Ok. Time to watch the rest. BTW where do you get the beautiful notebooks? Robbin
@WaskiSquirrel6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! "Seafood" was the first word that came to me. The notebooks are made in Budapest Hungary by BomoArt.com They're pricey, but gorgeous.

BTW, which inks are better on cheap paper Lamy, Park Quink (Series), Pelikan 4001 (Series)? Low ghosting and bleedthrough.
@arunabhalahiri49316 жыл бұрын
I have no experience with pelikan, I use parker quink black as my daily use, and it is a well behaved ink and works well on less than ideal paper. I do not use fancy paper. I do not like quink blue, it is less lubricant I feel. As for blue I use Waterman serenity blue, it is an well behaved ink and a very pretty and majestic blue. It is also very well behaved. It feels similar to quink black, maybe slight difference but it's very slight. As for lamy, I like lamy blue and lamy black and turquoise. But in india they are very expensive. They are well behaved and are really nice on all sorts of paper. I highly recommend them, I do not use them regularly mostly due to price. Pilot inks, the regular namiki line, the black and blue are very saturated and fantastic to look at and they are highly lubricant, but they feather and bleed quite a bit on cheap paper. I mostly use Japanese fine as my daily writer. But I have used the above mentioned inks with western and Japanese medium also and generally decent student notebook paper can handle them without any issues. In india the normal notebook paper are of quite good quality, they are rough but the paper is quite decent. And on very cheap paper even gel pen will bleed.. I like parker quink black. I use it in all my pen and it has served me well in all types of pen and paper. Newspaper paper doesn't count..

Jahmal Dujon I think those are all really good choices, as long as you're using a reasonably fine nib with a pen that's not too much of a gusher.
@jahmaldujon90106 жыл бұрын
Anne in Auckland True I have 4001 Royal Blue which is good, but the violet and dark green I assume they will shadow a bit more. Thinking of my next bottle to get.
@WaskiSquirrel6 жыл бұрын
I think they're all good choices, but Lamy and Parker Quink may be marginally better on cheap paper. In all cases, use afine nib.
@anneinauckland23186 жыл бұрын
@@jahmaldujon9010 the violet in this video looks so stunning it may actually be worthy of fancy paper 😀

Thank you for this weeks Pens In Use. Firstly, can I say it wasn't me. I wasn't the person who bought the Centropen! I wonder who it was and if he/she watches your channel? Must confess I looked at it, but it was expensive. I like your new art journal with the sea creatures theme. Your reference to climate change at the end was poignant but don't worry, Mr Trump says it's all a myth. When you mentioned your furnace in the basement using fossil fuels I suddenly remembered you are planning to fit a new roof in the future. Would you consider solar panels on your new roof? They are becoming quite popular. Finally, if you want to know what Carmen Jordan looks like you've probably got enough of her DNA there to make a clone!!!!
@WaskiSquirrel6 жыл бұрын
You're right, the price has gone up since I bought mine, and mine was already expensive. I have been thinking about solar panels. I would need to save my pennies longer: this country is currently hostile to anything related to protecting the environment, so there is no aid. They will only work on part of my roof, but it would be a help. I try not to think too much about her DNA on the tooth marks!
