The Discouraged contact effect is really clutch, even if the irondrake or warpfire thrower unit has only couple of models left the morale decrease often breaks units, since it comes in tandem with the "taking missile fire" morale debuff.

They have lighting foliage on fire in Pharoah looks like and they had it in 3 kingdoms as well as units lighting buildings on fire in Attila. I played as the fire queen in the nanman campaign in 3k and the mechanic was pretty useful.I like having fire arrows actually be useful other than for morale.

Your comment about terrain features being set on fire reminds me they've already done this in past total war games, even recently with Three Kingdoms where I felt it was done particularly well and added interesting chaos to the battlefield. I had a battle where I started in a heavily forested area with a fairly sized clearing within it. I was on the defensive, and took my position here. As the enemy came into range of my archers, their fire arrows lit the forests aflame and before long the enemy force was engulfed in the carnage. I gave my enemies the experience of Firelord Ragnaros' yearly campaigns in California, when hes not on sabbatical in Canada or Australia.

Not sure about that Wood Elf build. Seemed really disjointed after that initial deployment, lacking a clear direction aside from 'shoot missile' into 'stab with sword' into 'throw stag at the problem'. Seemingly to be lacking a coherent strategy, curious what the players thought process behind it was. Needs maybe some Tree Kin to buffer those blasting charges to help get those lightly armoured infantry into more effective combat

An old game called magic and mayhem had wild fire effects. Light something on fire, the fire spreads. Lightning would start wildfires too, and terrain would be scarred, and buildings would burn, as well as any creature caught in the flames.

Irondrakes dont really have much AP, but they do a TON of damage to things i wouldnt expect them to due to the explosive part i guess.

I do quite like irondrakes as a tech piece against starfire shafts, they have a bit of fire resist to take a lot more punishment than usual, however waywatchers of course don't have fire attacks so they'll still bully the hell out of them

I think each dwarf lord should have a repeatable army ability like Thoreks ruin of doom. It would give the other Lords some play too. Ideas off the top of my head. Ungrim - Unbreakable with Regen Grombrindal - Anti Infantry with armor piercing Belegar - Charge defense with Melee Defence Thorgrim - Damage Reflection and magic attack

Damn it's pain to see how badly died some pretty expensive infantry in a middle of battle. Charging alone on a 4-5 units, even if they half-beated, only to taste fire and bombs, being unable to properly attack... that's hust straight up a panic mistake that cost the game

If your pc is good enough, please super sample your game from 2k to 1080p or 4k to 1080p when recording it with FXAA (or in case of 4k no AA) on so that the replay doesn't look like a blurry mess. TAA is the bane of this game and many other games.

Platy really reacted to Thorek being in the open in front of AP missiles REALLY late in the first skirmish. He couldve gotten 2-3 more volleys into him, easily.

thorek got an initial volley by the waywatchers then popped the rune of negation on himself for an additional 40% wardsafe. Inbuilt are 15% missile res and 25% phys res, so he had capped 80% mitigation. Would it have been worth it to keep shooting him over the iron drakes? Maybe, but I doubt he'd been as aggressive if he was already the target. As soon as the rune ran out he got focused and popped down to half

16:09 slayers are honestly so nitch and so expensive i would switch them with cannons, having 3 cannons instead off 1 and 2 slayers, should be far more effective than anything the two slayers could do, spread out they can also support fire each other for divers, though its a bit wasted of shooting time, or maybe a organ gun if you get too many cannons. i would love to see dwarf meta move to a lot of arti shooting at the same time :D and love seeing elites, though i find dwarf elite a bit lackluster.

But what happens when the quarrelers start mirroring the hawks movements to screen them out, or if the irondrakes simply shoot/crossfire the hawks on approach? They might have some teeth, I'm just trying to figure out how to secure the engage without losing hald the unit.

@@dome2919 I'm not certain Iron drake can fire in the air (might be confusing with grenade launcher) but the low speed of the fire "projectile" makes it easy to dodge and like half the volley is lost when the hawk charge on the unit from the sky. But even if the hawk dies in a nasty crossfire if it allows bladesingers or else to close the gap, it's death is worth it. Quarellers mirroring the hawk mouvement only goes so far when they have 4x the speed (cannons when bogged down and thunderers always are scary tho). And against WE the dwarves cannot bring gyrocopters they're arrows magnets so nothing to worry about for the hawks.

Different tournaments have different rules. In general Turin's relaxed most of his rules in domination play because the objective make the stuff he believed too cheesy way less effective.

It's a slog to get through them, but you've got to take *something*. Most units on the entire WE roster get countered in some way by DW ( arty/mortars > WE archers, for example). It's a rough matchup on the best of days and the player tried what they could.

Why does TWWH3 look so blurry compared to the second game? Im watching on a 1440p monitor at 4k resolution on YT and so much of the battlefield and character models have this hazy smeared vaseline effect.

It’s the Anti-Aliasing, TAA. I’ve been messing around with graphic settings a lot lately and I think the best way to stream or record is with using the Nvidia sharpening tool.
