The only location where they’d be truly safe from an Iranian attack would be that island in the middle of the Indian Ocean-Diego Garcia, I believe it’s called. If you take a close look at the map, you’ll see there’s no straightforward path for a B-52 to approach Iran without being vulnerable to S-300 or S-400 missile systems. Iran is surrounded by countries hostile to the United States, which likely won’t permit overflights, meaning the only possible approach would be straight up the Persian Gulf. That route is heavily guarded with anti-aircraft batteries. B-52s are far from stealthy and are relatively easy targets, which would likely force them to rely on standoff cruise missiles.
