This is where it states to install it. It only squirts out an ounce or so or less at a time, so it is diluted pretty quick. My original cell lasted 4 years. Since pentair says to clean the cell with acid every now and then to get scale off the cells, I don't worry about the acid drip flowing by.

Does the pump head (inner) tubing really need replacing every year like the manual recommends?

do you turn it off while people are using the pool or do you leave on? I got install so far I like the way is working but I am concerned about muriatic acid flowing into the pool while we are in. thanks.

Hey m Hutto, thanks for the video. I know your post is a few years old, but I'm looking at getting the newer version (one that has both acid and liquid chlorine tanks), but I can't seem to find an answer to this question: How often do you filling the 4-gallon tank? Even if you've never let it go all the way to the bottom, could you estimate how long before it would actually run dry? I know that may vary from pool to pool, but in general, I need to know because there are a few times out of the year where I am away from my pool (no maintenance) for about 6 weeks straight. I'm wondering if in that time, the tanks would run dry (and if buying this would be a waste of money for me). The pool is covered with a safety cover during the time I am away. Well, any estimate on how long the tank would go before emptying out would help me a whole lot! Thanks!

I've had one of these units for the last three years. They work well, but the downside is that the pump motor only lasts about 1-2 seasons, at most due to acid corrosion (not rain water intrusion as this video suggests). I spoke with Pentair's technical people and they admitted that the pump needs to be considered a continual maintenance item. So you can expect to pay an additional $180 or more for a new pump every year or two. Also, the acid pump will stop working if the chlorine setting on your IntelliChlor generator is set below about 8%. So you have to watch that. At the same time, you don't want to have a high level of chlorine in the pool since the chlorine created by the salt generator is very high in PH and will require you to inject more acid.

very nice installation, I am looking into doing something similar myself... The only concern I have is the fact that accid will be deployed upstream, very close to the chlorinator cell. What if you will damage, or shorten the life of the cell because the concentration of the acid is too high? It could only be a good thing if the acid is being trickled at a slow flow, that could help you with the maintenance of the cell...

My control panel is not showing anything. There used to be info showing up. I sued to be able to see all messages and numbers. Is the board/panel destroyed and needs to be replaced?

I think the intellichem also can dispense liquid chlorine and actually monitor ph levels...seems more for the commercial.

Every time I disconnect the cell to clean it, it is pristine. Maybe, the little bit of acid is helping keep the scale down. I am on my 3rd pump and bought an extra, since Pentair changed the design of the pump and the new one is not compatible....have to buy and entire new system...Bad.

You are literally cleaning your cell every time the acid is injected. Unlike folks without the pH equipment who have to take the cell out and rinse it regularly.

My pool is only 9000 gals, so it takes a long time to go empty. You just have to calculate how much you need and how much gets dispensed each hour.

WTF is IntelliPh? I though there's only IntelliChem, what's the difference? Pentair really needs to hire good global product manager, because understanding Pentair product strategy is a total mess. EasyTouch, IntelliTouch, IntelliCenter - all exactly doing same thing. IntelliPh vs. IntelliChem - no difference. IntelliChlor vs. IChlor - again, same shit. IntelliFlo, IntelliPro, Intelli etc, again all pumps are the same.

the easy touch and intellitouch and intelli center are all different. In fact everything you listed is completely different. They are set up for different functions & different sizes. The Ichlor is sized for 15,000 gal and 30,000 gal pools. Intellichlor is for 20 40 60 thousand gallon applications. Easy touch can run 4 or 8 fuctions where Intelltouch can run up to twelve. Intellichem is for capability of running acid and chlorine also measures ORP and the intelli PH is a more affordable setup to just add acid. Intelliflo Intellipro have different parts and one is under the sta rite brand. But the different models some are variable speed and variable flo, some are SVRS ? VS

I would say it's more likely a good thing, the chlorinating cell is designed to be cleaned in acid, so if the water is a bit more acidic, that should allow you to clean less often... No?

No. The Pentair cell he is sending acid through has thin layers of coating on the grids. The more acid that is used on it decays the coating. Bad idea. Feel free to consult a Pentair, Hayward or Jandy rep & they will explain in technical terms if you prefer.

@@mhutto2180 I thought your video was right to the point and not at all too much! I am planning on doing a complete equipment conversion to a Pentair standard including these products and your video helped answer every question I had with great visuals and some new ideas about layout of equipment!
