Hey, Karen. If you look really really closely like standing on top of the tv when Mitch starts his solo during "my Lord, my savior...." he has an extremely fleeting smile. I took a screenshot of it but have no way to get it to you. Just watch very close. But the thing that made me laugh thinking about the end of his solo was that this is the time he needed to borrow Matt's sunglasses. Lol I really think though that he was really into putting everything he had and leaving it all on the stage as they say. I couldn't believe how dynamic it was. Oh speaking of Mitch in once upon a december, did you hear Mitch's voice cut totally through voctaves super sopranos? It makes me smile every time.

Kevin’s voice is so pure. It’s just beautiful. I also love that they included my chains are gone to make it a bit more current. I know this version from my own church but it’s not often covered professionally quite so beautifully.

This is most definitely the best version of this song/hymn I have ever heard. The members of this group have certainly been blessed by God with their beautiful voices which are used to perfection in this rendition. The author of this hymn, John Newton, was a slave trader whose life was changed after his ship was almost sunk in a very severe North Atlantic storm. This led to his re-evaluating his life and, recalling the biblical teachings he had received from his mother, he gave his life over completely to God. After years of study he eventually became an evangelical preacher in a small village church in Olney, Bucks, U.K where he wrote many hymns. Later he was moved to a more prestigious church in London.

You're very perceptive regarding the dynamics of this arrangement. PTX is very strategic with their percussion and bass placements. Matt and Kevin dropping out at that key moment is just one example. At the same time, Scott and Mitch were adding stacking, slightly offset harmonies. And then Kevin and Matt came back in at just the precise moment. I hope they get nominated for another Grammy award for this masterful arrangement.

I adore everything about this reaction from the very second you opened your mouth. Loved when you heard Matt start, and turn it up Scott then the clap. I thought Kevin was going to break his hands but the echo in there was probably good, to rewinding Mitch's part, to Kirsten killing it, to you knowing that matt did a bass drop and Kevin cut the beat out and no I had not realized it before bc I was to amazed by kirsties belting, but the best part of all was this.
