The fact that the 3 in the middle have known each other and been singing together for 20+ years, makes them similar to a family group. When you see groups that are family members, they always just know how to harmonize and compensate for each others weaknesses. They are basically siblings at this point in the way they know each other's voices so well it just comes easy for them. And the other 2 have done an amazing job of becoming part of that, too. They all know how to make each member's best qualities shine. I really do think that is what made them stand out and be so successful.

Heck, Kevin has been singing with them for the 13 years of their career so far, and Matt has been singing with them for 7 years, so there's probably not a lot of difference in how well they know their voices, either. While Kevin spends most of his time beatboxing, he does sing in harmony a lot of the time when he's not actively beatboxing. And Matt was a fan long before he became a member.

There is a video out there where they did a fan request in a room for the fan doing Daft Punk. They had no microphones it was just them with nothing. If you can find it, it is amazing.

You need to see "Daft Punk" catch the "Private Performance" kzbin.info/www/bejne/qqiXinapfb1-nas&pp=ygUUZGFmdCBwdW5rIHBlbnRhdG9uaXg%3D where they stand at the front of a back-stage room and sing with no mic's and captured on a fan mobile device so the sound is not 100%. Kevin and Avi need the amplification.

I’ve been to two of their performances. They are truly amazing and so hard working. Imagine using your voice no stop for a two hour concert with only one 15 minute break. Even when you aren’t singing the lead you are still singing harmony….and Kevin? The man is playing multiple instruments at the same time seamlessly.

Pentatonix at an Airport video is fun. They just grabbed the mike at the counter and sang.

They did a live version of their Daft Punk medley basically in a green room. I think it was a meet and greet for a Make a Wish. It was recorded on a phone. No mics. Just them in a room. It was flawless. You could tell that the balance could have been better but it was really well done.

There are several compilation vids on here of them singing in hallways without mikes , an extraordinary version of Silent Night filmed in a German Church when Avi Kaplan was still with them , and a rare rendition of 'Love Again' , filmed in a dressing room during an interview with a local tv station where only Kevin uses a mike. They don't perform this one any more purely because Kevin added Mongolian throat singing to his beatboxing and found it was too hard on his vocal cords ! Its a great EDM song though and was written by Kevin & Avi

What I find amazing about this cover is that the original Queen version had major MAJOR layering of their voices-I think I read that there are over 100 overdubs, ,meaning MANY layers of their voices, not to mention that they have a full instrumental band backing them! Here we have just five voices doing this. And it still sounds very full, certainly not approaching the Queen finished version - how could it-but still so beautiful and satisfying. A brave endeavor, if you ask me.

Hi, please try Forestella singing Bohemian Rhapsody in live. (Actually every video of Bohemian Rhapsody by them is live video.) I think you would love their Queen interpretation a lot. I recommend Forestella Queen's Best Songs compilation video on KBS Jeonju channel, but add filters on to avoid copyright problems as it's from TV shows if you react. For me, even I've seen PTX version and others, Forestella version is the best. Initially Forestella is a crossover vocal quartet, but for now they are active as a trio as their bass is temporarily in hiatus for his military service (he will be back in 2025 May tho), still wonderfully sang The Show Must Go On in trio. It has an awesome guitar solo intro, so please take a look. Maybe you will thank me for letting you know Forestella.

Yeah, they definitely use all the post production tools that pretty much any other artist uses. I think people who get overly defensive on that point don’t really understand what goes into making a professional music recording. The proof for me has always been the fact that I have seen these guys live in concert a few times and while it does not sound exactly the same between the live version and the studio version, the talent and the emotion and everything that you hear in the studio version is there on stage. Some of their professional recordings are more overly produced than others, sometimes they use vocal layering, which they really usually couldn’t do live in concert. But it’s not there to trick anybody, it’s still their voice.
@Gwennedd21 күн бұрын
I would add that there is one post production thing they don't use is AutoTune. They used it once for Cher's believe in their 90's Dance medley because Cher was the first person to use the tool in that particular song. I'm aware that they use Melodyne for their post work and other tools, but they do try to be as authentic as possible. Perhaps Fischtank should check out their mini-doc, The Recording of Evergreen that shows a lot of their behind the scenes vocal work and how they make decisions and colab with each other about roles, choices, and percussion work, etc. It's quite a fascinating look at the stuff we normally don't see that goes into the making of an album.
@jcs102521 күн бұрын
@ I think just about everyone uses Autotune, but many think it’s a tool to help bad singers sound good, which ok maybe, but usually it’s used for some pitch correction and other things that make the official audio ‘perfect’. Autotune isn’t a bad word in the recording industry.

Mitch might be the reincarnation of Freddie Mercury. Freddie died in November 1991 and Mitch was born in July 1992. He can also grow the Freddie mustache. It is so close to matching it is kinda creepy. You can see Mitch with the Freddie mustache doing Somebody to Love on a Queen special that was on ABC a few years ago.
