I think the word you're looking for is they're the GOATS of the a capella world 😊

They worked on this song for years before doing this video. There is a "behind the scenes" video on how it was made. The stars were a tribute to the original artist, Queen, because Brian May is an actual astrophysicist! He actually reposted this on his page when it first came out. BTW, Mitch doesn't use the megaphone when performing it live. He can actually make those sounds with only his mouth!!

I've seen them do this live, from the front row. It's indescribable. Life changing moment for sure, having Mitch standing right in front of me, singing like Freddie Mercury himself.

They are simply amazing. Their beat box is next level.

Where have you been ?????? Under a rock!!! They spent 5 yrs working on this song....because they wanted to be authentic and do the song justice. Pentaholics are a FORCE!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤

That moving couch is a story all by itself. It represents the groups beginnings when that lost the recording contract with Sony that they'd won from The Sing-Off and they decided to keep going on their own, using the couches in their apartments to sing and record from. It also represents the movie that made this song famous...Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure when the duo played this song in the car on their road trip. It was motorized and extremely problematic...tippy as hell, ran over Kevin once, a shelf had to be attached at the back for Kirstie ( cuz she's short). and it was used as part of Queen's album cover for Sheer Heart Attack...that sprawl on the couch near the end. You should, just for yourselves, watch the BTS video of the making of this video. It's kinda eye-opening on how much is involved in making a music video... and what can go wrong!!

I can’t think of any song they’ve done that has let me down. The spin they put on the songs they cover always seem to improve it! Kiss from a rose and Creep for instance were surprising in the best possible ways!

Great reaction! A true tribute to Queen. Besides all the similarities, when they pan to the stars, the four shooting stars are for the four band members of Queen and for Brian May who got his degree in astrophysics. Awesome stuff.

Well that is a favorite classic of theirs.

Pentatonix Bohemian Rhapsody Insights: So, some things to know about this cover and video: -It took PTX years to get the arrangement to where they felt they could do the original masterpiece justice. -The cover, and especially the video, was meant to be an homage to Queen. Some of the moments paying respect were: 1.The mono-recording of the line "easy come, easy go" followed by the panning of the voices from left to right on the line "little high, little low" (which is how the original was recorded), 2. Obviously the flashlights being used to mimic the lighting on the operatic part of the original video, 3. The four shooting stars to represent the four members of Queen, as well as acknowledge the fact that Dr. Brian May is an astrophysicist, 4. The overhead shot of them lying on the couch is to represent the Sheer Heart Attack album cover. 5. When Mitch lies down on the couch, singing "Too late, My time has come," they're referring to Freddie Mercury's death (the foreshadowing was, of course, unintentional on Freddie's part; there's no way he could have known about AIDS, thank goodness). The other four are walking next to the couch to serve as Mitch's pall bearers. The megaphone was just a prop. It is not needed to reproduce the electric guitar distortion. -PTX can, and does, perform this live with no backing track...something even Queen and the Great Freddie Mercury could not do. Freddy once said he didn't care what people did with his music as long as they "...don't make it boring, darling!", so I think he would absolutely approve. They were indeed on an actual road and luckily, there actually is a behind the scenes for the making of this one that you can watch! The link is: kzbin.info/www/bejne/h2nYmH2kfqySgs0 Also when Brian Mays heard it... he posted it on his web site with the word "ENJOY”. The overall video--with the "living room" and couch--is an homage to Pentatonix's own journey as a group. They lost their record deal right after winning the Sing Off and moving to LA, so they started putting out videos on KZbin, performing covers. They would sit on the couch in Kevin (beatboxer) and Avi's (bass) living room and just record themselves on Mitch's (counter tenor who took the lead on this song) iPad. Some of their earliest videos went viral and they eventually were able to secure a new deal, record an EP, go on tour, release chart-topping albums and win three Grammy awards...so they moved out of the living room and down this new, unknown road. At the end of the day, though, they're still the same choir-nerds they've always been; just happy to sit together on a couch and sing.

I would love to recommend a version of Bohemian Rhapsody done by 60,000 people. Seach on KZbin for 'Green Day, Hyde Park, Bohemian Rhapsody'. Geen Day, the band, not even the same genre, use Bohemian Rhapsody as a pre-show filler. This time, 60,000 people joined in and sang their hearts out. Most weren't even born when Queen released this song, at least 75% weren't born when Freddie Mercury died. Just goes to show what a real rock god can do, when a performance like that is done 30 years after your death.

PTX is the certainly top notch. However, it looks like you haven't done anything from VoicePlay. I suggest "Carry on my Wayward Son" for a good intro to the group and take your pick on any Christmas themed song. (Grinch is particularly good.) Voctave's "Oh Come all Ye Faithful" is very good, too.
