First let me say that I love your reactions and you have a great ear for music and harmonies and pick out details in the ptx performance that go over my head but you explain them with enough description that it is easy to understand your insightful points. I do have to say that I was surprised because you have done so many ptx reactions including the sing off that you said the ptx edge of glory was BEFORE the Sing Off. It was only Scott, Mitch, & Kirsty that performed together prior to the Sing Off and Avi & Kevin were ONLY ADDED for the Sing Off which was the first time they performed together, ie: 2011 rather than this song which ptx did in January 2012.

I love their early KZbin videos. There is something magical about how they did all that they did to become the successful band that they are. Lots of talent, creativity and hard work made it possible.

There was no pre-Sing Off PTX. The Trio met Avi and Kevin in 2011 just 2 weeks before the show started. This was done in the year after the show, after they lost the contract with RCA, and they were putting out home-made youtube videos, building their fan base all on their own. Don't know how they had the will to keep putting out these videos, but boy did it pay off. A couple more during this time were Gangnam Style, We Are Young and Somebody That I Used to Know. Love to see your reaction to any of these that you haven't done yet.

I'm an OG Pentaholic so I saw this at the time of release in 2012. Still. I love seeing some of their older stuff. This was done shortly after The Sing Off after they lost their recording contract. I bet Sony is kicking themselves now.

You do realize that Sony brought them back, right? Sony re-signed them to their smaller Madison Gate label in June of 2012. They released their first three EPs on that label, then when Daft Punk won them their first Grammy, Sony moved them up to the major RCA label. ALL of their albums and CDs have been on a Sony-owned label.

Any early ptx video with Avi and Kevin is always post sing off considering they didn't all meet up until a day before their audition. Anything before was just the trio. This is definitely broke ptx after their label dropped them and they were just putting up content filmed on Mitch's ipad for the fans they'd made on the show. Trying to get their name out there.

The fact that these "Aliens" met and evolved into a "Supergroup" that would blow the doors wide open for Acapella to become mainstream is amazing. Everything PTX does is great and when i see reactors get emotional on these "upgrades"; It is another aspect of them I Love... They were never actually together, no matter how many rumors you have heard. I think that maybe they SHOULD have been at some point, but it never really happened. They definitely enjoyed flirting with each other, but it was never serious.

They are both straight. Always were. The teasing you find Avi taking from Scott in many interviews is always about "I like girls" until he finally starts to get seriously annoyed about it. Kevin is a serious 7th Day Adventist and now married. There is no there there.

Sing Off was late summer and fall of 2011. This was during the period between when Sony dropped them then re-signed them about eight months later, when they were strictly releasing material thru KZbin...so yes, "Broke" Pentatonix! This was fairly typical of the songs they were recording at the time while building up a HUGE following on KZbin.

They didn’t get resigned eight months later. RCA signed them in 2014 and they have been with them ever since but up to that point they were independent

I can guess there is something we don't know from the way they never mention Avi on interviews or social medias(except Kevin) and Avi stopped leaving comments on new PTX stuff after few months later he left... But I want to see the source of that info if it's possible, just wondering!

Cause I hope there were no complications except copyright issues(which is understandable).... I'd like to think that they don't mention each other to respect Matt, as some pentaholic kept saying 'Come back!' to Avi and compared those two. And I'd like to think that Avi's 'dark and brooding' atmosphere at that time was because of his mother's illness and his anxiety from hectic life style of ptx and not because of legal issues between them.... 😭😭 Sorry for bad eng...

@@minn3333 I tried googling and found some comments on Quora and other places which seemed to reflect badly on Avi but since there was no clear evidence available (stories of things which had since been taken down etc.) I don't want to perpetuate them. There is so much misinformation on the internet, I don't want to risk adding to it.
