Pentatonix released this cover just two weeks before Leonard Cohen, who wrote this song, died. It's my hope that he got to hear this before he died. It's the best version of this song ever -- they saved the best for last, so to speak.

It was shot in the Mojave Desert (not sure exactly which part, but it wasn't Death Valley). Fun fact: It was shot using a drone camera! The "Da da dummm" is the bass harmony, done by Avi, except during Avi's solo when Scott took over the bass harmonies.

I don't know all their names; the only one I could identify was Kevin, so tell me, who was the guy with the insanely high vocal range? I think his vocal range is five octaves, which is ridiculous for a guy.
@bill.godwin-austen3 жыл бұрын
@@DavidRay_40 That would be Mitch Grassi. His voice is a natural countertenor, which is the highest of the male voices. What's particularly impressive is that it seems to come so easily to him. He never seems to strain to hit those insane high notes. Check out their live concert performance of "Aha" (by Imogen Heap) at the Singapore Star Vista. Mitch was absolutely on fire that night He explores the stratosphere in that one.

When I first saw this in my feed I did a double check on the date it was uploaded. I didn't know that there were reactors out there that have been heard acting as long as you have who haven't seen Hallelujah yet. It's usually the first one they react to. But hey I'm glad you saw it now! I love it and thought it should have won an award. I still think that but I hold no Sway With the powers that be in the awards Department of any music institute. I know hard to believe but it's true. Enjoyed your reaction

they are purely accapela. EVERY 'instrumental' sound you hear on thier videos is either from their vocal chords or their bodies... which given all the songs they sing, is impressive. also clear why so damn many reacts channels react to this video, mr Billy.

This video along with 'Daft Punk' (mashup) and 'Imagine' (John Lennon cover) are part of the reason that they have +3 Billion views on YT, and a rabid fanbase of "Pentaholics", of which I am proudly one. Not to mention the incredible side projects that Scott and Mitch (Superfruit) kzbin.info/www/bejne/i2mYhmaahdqciJY , Kirstin (original pop songs) kzbin.info/www/bejne/npibnauqgLiAh5I , and Kevin Olusola (looping KOver's) kzbin.info/www/bejne/f3jNmGRvaM1nhc0 . Along with Avi's, now former bass, solo work kzbin.info/www/bejne/aWmVc4eugbOlpdk . As a group they are one of the most talented top to bottom. There are no weak links. Their arranging ability is unmatched. Which is why they can turn covers into their own, often better than the original, and originals that are just as incredible. The thing I find so impressive though is that, apart from the occasional addition of Kevin's cello, Beyonce, that the sound is produced from just five voices. So well in fact, that often times you actually forget that there are no instruments. While this is A capella music it is most definitely not the "barber shop quartet" that people too often associate with that term. I continue to enjoy your reactions and look forward to more PTX reactions, hopefully.

Yep, that was Leonard Cohen's classic that has been covered probably by more artist that any other song in the past 20 years. Great version! Now, Billy Weabs, you never have played a request by me before and I don't bug you often, but I'd like to hear an old classic Chuck Berry song from Pulp Fiction. Please play the electric guitar pioneer's great "C'est la vie" or as some know it as "You never can tell."
