When they put out Rise, my first thought was: is PTX turning into Scott and friends. That song died out quickly, so I don't believe I was alone in my feelings. I think there was a lesson to be learned and it seems they did.

We say that their covers are upgrades of the original but this…this one is an upgrade of their own upgrade. Their sound has matured as they’ve gotten older. Sarah Bareilles said after they did Dog Days are Over on the SingOff, “what we have is a group of young people who have the potential to become that much more great over time.” It was prophetic.

This is definitely my favorite version of this song. And it's an Upgrade of their Upgrade. I'm not sure where you've gotten the reason Avi left is because he didn't get to sing enough, but that's not why he left. Avi couldn't handle the touring schedule, the practice schedule and the video and TV special schedule. He is the kind of person that needed to have time off to himself in the woods, in nature to re-charge his batteries, "so to speak." Also at the time his mother was ill and he felt he needed to be home with her and his family. It was never about somebody not getting enough singing time. If you look at the time Avi has been away from PTX, he still really doesn't sing for long periods of time, he takes large breaks in between doing music. He's just a guy that does not thrive on a hectic schedule and one thing PTX has is a very hectic schedule. This was definitely up in the top 5 along with "Kiss From a Rose", there was plenty of great ear candy on this album. Now they get a lil break to enjoy the Holidays. Avi had a very different style than the group. Much more folk. Kevin came into the group not singing at all. He developed his voice with Avi's help and has continued to get better. Matt was rarely featured because they had a huge back catalog that he had to learn and get comfortable with. In addition the trio had been together for so long that moving in and out of their technically complicated harmonies to a lead verse was much easier for them. Lately though as Matt has gotten more comfortable he is doing more spotlight verses. Kirstin too has really worked on her range and is much more confident with her high notes.

😌👉I'm SO GLAD that Avi leaving was NOT BECAUSE HE DIDN'T HAVE A LOT OF LEADS! We know his reasons and it is FACT that he had a big part in arranging,/writing the songs. With that came choosing who would sing what parts. Avi had a very important part in the group aside from being a spectacular bass. Before PENTATONIX Avi was an Opera/music major, of course his preferred music genre was Folk (He talked about it while in the group). Avi gave his reasons for his departure and he prefers the slow pace life and he is doing the music he loves on his own time.

Don't get me wrong, I love Avi he was great in this group and he is still great at what he is doing now. But I wonder when the fans will let him move on and stop bringing him up every time Pentatonix does something great. Matt is the bass now. I also love Matt and what he brings to the group. The best thing we as fans can do is support Avi in his solo career the same way we support Pentatonix. Pentatonix is Avi's past, let him move on.

I think they have moved into a different sound since Avi left and it suits them much better. Loved the comment about Mitch and the Robe. It probably would have looked better if he had the turtleneck under it, like Scott and Kevin. Kirstie looks like she had her dress on in the bath (Although it is a beautiful dress) and needed Mitch's robe.
