Thanks Buska, my father served in the Welsh Guards through WWII went to France with the BEF and again on D-Day. He took me on a tour of the Palaces he stood guard at. His favorite duty was at the Bank of England where he had to wear plimsols so as not to damage the marble floor, he also received a newly minted half crown at the end of each guard. This bought a few pints in those days.

The visitors really seemed to enjoy this. These lads are a mix of regiments, not all Household Cavalry but many of them have stood in at Buckingham Palace too. There should be be an army recruitment display out the back, on the parade ground where the public can meet the troopers and gaurdsmen outside of their ceremonial duties and find out what their real job is.

I believe that is a Supacat HMT vehicle (Jackal / Coyote) . Used by various special forces around the world, including the United Kingdom, Norway, United States, Australia and New Zealand among others.

The king horses they are always out there all type of weather and their British soldiers they do a brilliant job by just what they do and I am so proud of each one of you, I would just like to say thank you. My dad was in army the bomb disposable and he was sent into Afghanistan. Unfortunately he got blown up so I just want to say thank you to each one of your soldiers. You do a brilliant job.

British Jackal or MWMIK (Mobility Weapon-Mounted Installation Kit) vehicle. It's primary role being deep battlespace reconnaissance, rapid assault and fire support, where mobility, endurance and manoeuvrability are important. 431 Jackals are in service with the British Army. An undisclosed number also in service with the RAF and Royal Marines. Used mainly by three light cavalry regiments of the British Army. The Jackal is capable of maintaining off-road speeds of up to 49 mph (79 km/h) and can reach a top speed of 80 mph (130 km/h).

A timely reminder that these men and women are real soldiers when operating in their other roles and not just ceremonial. Cannot say i like the vehicles though no top cover against air bursts or side blasts, or am i mistaken, anyone care to add to my knowledge. Always operated in Land Rovers with no top cover at all

Land Rovers are now mostly just base runabouts they found in the gulf that they are now just too small and under powered to carry a fighting load out and very poorly protected, the jackal has taken over reconnaissance and patrol duties from them

Tank. It’s a Jackal HMTV…as per most videos. Military knowledge is abysmal. The boss marching his troops isn’t a Sgt (they’re a Lance Sgt), the rare sight of a guy marching near to Wellington Barracks isn’t rare it’s daily…do your research. Nice to see HCR, KRH, QRH and the Scots DG getting together. Shame it’s not a CR2, that may come in the next few days…maybe.

A great move. The combat soldiers should do this more often, it helps reinforce to the public that all these soldiers have many roles, but first and foremost they are ‘Soldiers’, sitting on horses and parading in those beautiful red uniforms is a secondary roll. Well done the Guards.
