I was surprised that you did not comment on Kevin playing the cello. He is amazing. He is a world class musician. He played at Carnegie Hall twice as a teenager. Once on cello and again on saxophone at age 17. He played as part of the orchestra at Yale. Kevin has his own KZbin channel. Everything on it is awesome. Glad that you like this fun Pentatonix video.

He probably did not realize it was Kevin on the cello, as Kevin is also in the video with his beat-boxing. Or thought maybe the cello was a prop? Don't forget the other fantastic details -- that Kevin was doing pre-med at Yale when PTX beckoned. Oh ...yes...and he speaks Mandarin. Super talented.

Only PTX can take a child's nursery rhyme and turn it into a masterpiece. Lindsey is fantastic. Her schtick is dancing and playing at the same time. Check out her channel. This is her third video with PTX. Radioactive and Paptaoui (in French) are the other two.

I've been a Pentatolic since their debut on the Sing Off when they won in 2011. Scott, Mitch and Kirsten have been together a long time. If you get a chance you should react to all their appearances on the Sing Off - the three of them ( Scott, Mitch, and Kirsty were all of 19 years old)! Their genius was evident even then. Now I'm 66 yrs old and spent 20 years in the USA. Their talent has become so sophisticated over time. I get goosebumps. Every time I listen to them even if it's my 20th time listening to the same time. I love your reactions to Pentatonix because I react the same way you do every time. With all the turmoil going on in this country they are what we need to feel good, reflect on the talent Pentatonix brings to music, and their Christmas songs are to die for. Your reactions also trigger goosebumps in me because I know the awe I experience when watching these talented, professional kids. I have not seen one reactor to pentatonix who doesn't go through the magical journey and reactions to pentatonix. Keep reacting because you've become my number one reactor to watch. Stay safe and healthy both you and your family. Mary

The Five Faces of New Pentaholics 1. The most common is the Mitch Slapped. Commonly found when Mitch is heard for the first time in Hallelujah, and doing Aha! at the Star Vista. 2. The Wide Eyed Look of Disbelief. Normally found when you hear their Wall of Sound. Found when listening to Mary Did You Know, Imagine, and Mad World. 3. The I Didn’t Want It to End face. Most commonly found after listening to the 90s Dance Medley. It can also be found after listening to all their medleys and evolutions. 4. The Teary Eyed Look. This is commonly found when listening to an emotional song of theirs or just the sheer beauty of their work. Commonly found when listening to Mary Did You Know, Hallelujah, Amazing Grace, Imagine, The Prayer and most especially Thank You. 5. The What Did I Just Hear Face. Happens when Pentatonix starts strong, or when you hear a really special note or Kevin sound. Is usually accompanied by rewinding the video or song to make sure your ears really heard what they heard. Those times are too many to list, but the most common rewind at the start moment is the beginning of Sound of Silence.

Lindsey Stirling is an amazing violinist, who also dances while playing. She has calibrated with a lot of big artists. Pentatonix, Evanescence, Lizzy Hale of Halestorm, Mako, etc.. You should really check out some more of hers. The song she did with Lizzy Hale called Shatter Me, she wrote and composed that song. She was one AGT and Simon Cowell told her she was good enough at dancing or playing violin to make it. So she went on KZbin and blew them away!!

Ok so the first 3 comments I made were done b4 reaching the end of ur video...wasn't expecting that. Well u were pretty much talking to me. Unfortunately I'm not at "find happiness" part of my journey yet. I'm sure I'll get there eventually, and yes there times I smile and laugh (lately, at you lol) but overall I'm not living a life of happiness. There are several things in life I feel we are inadequately taught/trained/prepared to handle. Going thru major grief (loss of ur spouse/partner or a child) OR helping/supporting someone you care about thru their grief journey are at the top of that list. Death is an uncomfortable subject. No one knows what to say or what to do. People are worried about saying the wrong thing and "making it worse". Everyone's grief journey is different but if anyone reading this has a friend or coworker or neighbor or family member who has recently lost the most important person in their life try and navigate thru the "uncomfortable" to get to a place where u know and can sense what he/she is looking for from you and its no longer uncomfortable cuz u can see and understand that ur making a difference in their life. A few common misbeliefs... (I'll use "they" for grieving person) 1. There's a set grieving period of time. False. Length of time depends on the circumstances around death, the strength and size of their support team, and that person's personality and mindset. 2. I don't want to bring the person's name up cuz itll just make them sad. False (for most people). Whats make me sad, is after a few months, no one wants to talk about him anymore. I would LOVE it if one of our friends/co-workers wanted to grab some food and tell Jerry stories. Not having someone to talk to about their person is almost suffocating and creates feelings of isolation and extreme loneliness. 3. They have a bunch of friends. I'm sure she/he hasn't spend much time on their own. False (for most). Sure friends pour out of the woodwork at first but then go back to their own lives. Also depends if the person has kids...either young ones that will force them to keep moving forward, or grown ones that won't leave mom or dad's side for the first week or two...will help carry the burden. A friend recently lost her husband. Her adult children were her bubble wrap she didn't spend a minute alone for first week and a half. I don't have kids and was on my own that very first night. There's also a difference between "texting friends " and "hanging out friends" and when you've spent the last 10 years in a "relationship bubble" ignoring the outside world and chilling at home together 24/7, those "hanging out friends" start to disappear without u even realizing it until something like this happens. Sorry that was probably a lot of rambling. I'm not even going back to check. I hope it made at least a little sense and if 1 person takes something from this and uses it to help someone then hey, maybe I'll feel like I still have some purpose in life after all, lol...jk. P.S. somebody, like a Taylor Swift type person with major influence, needs to come up with a new relationship term to describe a couple that isn't married but has been together a long time, live together, and live like a married couple minus a marriage certificate. Never bothered me til this happened and I had to figure out how to refer to him...saying my boyfriend died minimalizes the relationship. Boyfriend shouldn't be used past HS/college. Its an adolescent term. He was far more than "my boyfriend" Significant other and partner are too stiff or formal sounding IMO. Husband or Fiancé carries the weight but aren't true cuz we weren't married or engaged. So I'm stuck with sounding like I'm in HS and my boyfriend of like 2 weeks just died when in reality he was much more like my husband and we were together 10 years...and spent roughly 18 hrs a day together over those 10 years. To say our routines were woven together is an understatement. Trying to fill that gaping hole in my day between work and sleep led me here to the rabbit hole this is KZbin. I knew PTX from the sing off (I'm also in Dallas and they performed in a bunch of festivals that first summer after winning). But now I'm emotionally invested lol. Final comment (promise)...similar to ur NFL story, Scott and Ben Bram started AcaPop Kids a few years back...they're amazing. U should react to something of theirs. At any rate, I just learned their highly talented 15 yr old redheaded beatboxer with a face full of freckles (the most unlikely looking beatboxer ever) went to sleep one night and never woke up doctors autopsy toxicology report showed nothing wrong with him. Apparently theirs a child/adolescent version of SIDS where a perfectly healthy child can just die in their sleep for no apparent reason. Sorry for the looooong comment. I won't make it a habit.✌

Great reaction! So much fun watching you become a Pentaholic and your appreciation of the cello and violin- you are becoming one of my favorite reactors. As others have already commented here, you would enjoy the Pentatonix cover of Imagine Dragon's "Radioactive" as it features Kevin and Lindsay Sterling rocking out on the strings. Before Pentatonix, Kevin was already an accomplished saxophone, cello and piano player, performing at Carnegie Hall as a teenager and beatboxing was just a hobby he was playing around with. Kevin would later go on to create and perfect "celloboxing"(beatboxing while playing cello) while he was in college working towards becoming a doctor. Kevin posted a video on You Tube of him celloboxing "Julio" that went viral immediately. Scott saw this video when he looked up beatboxing online searching for a required beatboxer for their audition for the "Sing Off" and asked Kevin to join them. It has been 10 years now and Kevin decided to give up his career in medicine to stay with Pentatonix. You will want to check out more of his celloboxing with Pentatonix on their cover of "Say Something". Kevin Olusola also as his own channel on You Tube, 'KO', that you will want to check out starting with his cover of "Down". Be prepared to be "KO" by Kevin instead of the usual "Mitch Slap" from Mitch.

Nothing wrong with you, you just upgraded your Christmas music 🎶🎵 Lindsey Stirling is awesome on her violin as well as Kevin on his cello. Kevin Olusola has played in Carnegie Hall with the cello and a saxophone when he was a teenager. This one was amazing with all of them but belonged to Lindsey and Kevin for me. Lindsey plays 3 different violins on a regular basis. The electric one she no longer uses if water is involved as it causes damage. The last time was in a music video shot with the Bellagio's water fountains going off in the background. Cool and beautiful video though. Kevin's cello is equally beautiful. Check out PTX's video Radioactive which also features Lindsey (also has Avi instead of Matt).

When PTX uses an instrument, it's front and center. They have used Beyonce, Kevin's cello, Lindsey and her violin, Scott on the piano and Ben Bramm on a guitar. PTX is Christmas. Excuse me for rofl for you falling in love with PTX. Scott just posted on social media that PTX is listed in Times Square twice, in case their haters get their visit to NYC ruined. He had the biggest smile on his face. Maybe you should watch the beginning of PTX. That would be the sing off, season 3 and include the judges comments. You will see the original pentaholic and the original Mitch slap. The producers did not want much attention on Mitch. They wanted a front person for each group. Scott did get the group together, but he doesn't want to be the lead at all times. He looks like a proud papa when different members shine.

She has all kinds of violins, even a crossbow one she used in Artemis. You should really check some of her videos out. Top notch. 'Underground' has a bit more edge to it. 'Til the Light Goes Out' is like a mini movie. 'Roundtable Rival' is an older one but it has a steampunk, western vibe to it. It is a long rabbit hole but a fun one. She sells out concerts worldwide like PTX and for good reason, she is amazing live as well.

I think in the live performances Kevin plays cello and Scott plays piano.

So as others have noted, they have collaborated with dancing violinist Lindsey Stirling twice before. It looks like she's got an electric violin here. Also, Kevin is playing his cello on this; if you want to see another great example of that, check out their cover of Shallow. (Kevin has an electric cello, too - it looks like the big sister of what Lindsey is playing here.) The musical style on this sounds heavily influenced by a lot of the modern Celtic music groups, and in fact, this is giving me some Jethro Tull "Songs from the Wood" vibes.

Pentatonix Christmas songs are so different from what we grew up with. I run them all through the holiday. Try O come all ye faithful official, totally different. That looks like a electric violin, I know Kevin will sometimes use an electric cello. I know Mark Wood (Trans Siberian Orchestra) makes them.

Pentatonix lost a little bit of the low end when Avi left, but Matt has added a warm rich element with a wide vocal range. Pentatonix sounds slightly different but still just as awesome.
