@PtxXtp Жыл бұрын
Not sure what you mean by they don't sing anymore? The group has never stopped singing together. They've all done separate side projects but ptx comes first for all of them. They're on their 11th year as a group and going strong.

dude, they just released their 874567th Christmas album, whatchumean? they still sing together. in fact, this clip is from, like, a month ago!

As much as I love this group, the mix and acoustics in this recording make them sound average. Live a cappella is really tough. In THIS piece, Kirstie stole the show!

I don't like Scott's preeminence over the other voices....or is it just this arrangement? Will have to check other songs
@FroDiKa_Music2 жыл бұрын
It's the mic levels ^_^ from the other performances at the Hollywood Bowl, it seems like they turn up the mics for the singer who takes the lead... Scott was likely the lead at the end, but the sound guy/gal definitely turned up the mic a bit too much hehe :D

I know I'm going to get some flack from what I'm about to say...but, for those who want to reply back with a negative comment, let me say, before you do so, you NEED to check for yourself. As much as I love this song, and as much as I enjoy Pentatonics, y this is NOT the best cover. To be completely honest, the ABSOLUTE best cover of this song is done by a heavy metal band called 'Disturbed'. Search it out on KZbin...especially the video from The Tonight Show...and you will understand.
@brucegraham41422 жыл бұрын
I agree with you Robb. I checked out the version by 'Disturbed'. I had never heard 'Disturbed' sing before now. It magnified the essence of the message to me with such powerful intensity. The voice and facial expressions of David Draiman during the song makes me feel he knew the depth of the original message Paul Simon was trying to get across to listeners. It was relevant back then ('60's) and is relevant now. I was moved emotionally when listening to the 'Disturbed' version of 'The Sound of Silence'!

@@carennorthcutt7724 guess I have to give it a listen....thanks
@spirit397 Жыл бұрын
the two versions simply can not be compared, yes disturbeds version was magnificent, but was backed by a full orchestra, this is acapella, two amazing versions of the song done in two completely different ways, you cant compare chalk and cheese, you cant compare these two versions.
@robbryan3044 Жыл бұрын
@@spirit397 Yes, they CAN be compared...against each other, as well as against the original. I (and others) completely understand that each version IS different, and done in entirely different ways. Just because this is acapella, and the other is done with orchestral backup (by a heavy metal band, might I remind you...and, truth be told, I really don't care for heavy metal), does NOT mean they can't be compared. I appreciate what Pentatonix did with a song, and I DO really like it...but, at the same time, if you know anything about the "meaning" of the words of the song, then you would also have to completely understand that Pentatonix version does NOT do justice to the "meaning" (to be honest, even though Simon and Garfunkel wrote & recorded the original, their version didn't truly do justice to the "meaning"). Disturbed's version, However, truly DOES do justice to the "meaning".

Matt is incredible on this song. You shouldn't be complaining in a song that Avi was never even a part of. Matt has been their bass for 5 years now. Time to move on. The Avi talk is old now. He chose to leave. Let's accept that.

It's all a matter of personal taste. Disturbed's is too angry sounding for me. Ptx is just enough intensity while still sounding beautiful. Funny how a couple people come to a ptx video to talk about disturbed. Go watch their video if that's your preference.
