I totally agree with you, Avi was amazing in Pentatonix, and now that we know how much more he can do, his solo career is even more amazing. And Pentatonix is still amazing with Matt singing bass, he has a lovely voice.

Have you ever reacted to Natural Disaster live?? Or Hey Mama/Hit the Road Jack live? Both feature some of Avi's best and lowest bass performances including blowing the speakers on the latter. Not reacted to nearly enough. Should love it.

This is probably my favourite PTX song. Thank you so much for reacting to this because so few reactors do. You're absolutely right - the studio version is stunning and you can clearly hear those background harmonies. This song was indeed Avi's baby - he wrote it about missing his family; which was one of the reasons he left PTX. I always thought it should have been the anthem of the pandemic years of lockdown - the lyrics suit it perfectly. Leaving aside anything personal, Avi did have to leave PTX. He has so much music inside him, that providing bass rhythms, no matter how complex they were, was never going to be enough. And although Scott was able to provide a basic bass riff (as here), Avi's bass was too vital to their sound for him to be allowed too many solos. But now they have Matt and Avi is free, so 'all is well'

Yes to all of this! Plus now that Scott is older his bass is thick enough to cover bass better. They are all right where they're supposed to be for their own mental health, creative growth and general joy.

I agree with you, Avi did the right thing when he left. Not just for the music he wanted to create but for his own health and well-being. This song is sort of a little taste of what he would go on to be!

D...I recommended this performance to you about 8 months ago, but the version (maybe even a different concert)I sent is a different camera that allows you to see what the others are doing which gave more meaning to the song...STILL, I loved this performance and one of AVI's best !! P.S. I'm still waiting for you to react to Ram Jam's "Black Betty"

When I went a saw them in November, I recorded them doing White Winter hymnal (I believe it was the first time they performed it live. I was so flustered I held the phone wrong. Because I was holding the phone, but I was not watching through the screen. I also recorded part of Kevin’s portion with the cello (because I wanted to show some how amazing it was). I also started recording one other song, but I just couldn’t I was too into the song. For me PTX is my zen and I was so in the moment, that I just wanted to enjoy it.

Great reaction! One of my favorites from PTX. I believe Avi stated that songwriting was his favorite thing to do. He also said that he knew that PTX's bread and butter were covers and knew it was very important for them to keep them coming. But for him time was passing and if he wanted to write his own music he would have to leave PTX. Boy I believe most can agree that he made the right choice for all. They are doing great and so is Avi! Win!!! Win!!!!

Well said. I agree, and though I love and appreciate Matt and what he brings to the group, I still miss Avi. But he did do the right thing leaving. For all the publicly stated reasons family, health, etc. he and his gift and talents were totally under utilized and under appreciated. For just the handful of times he was given a verse or lead or song, he was capable of so much more. Instead he was relegated to maintaining the bass line - important but probably boring for a man of his talent, skill and training. And look what he has accomplished already! I think PTX has learned a lesson also, notice how much more they use Matt in leads, not just a bass beat. Thank you for this reaction, I had forgotten this song - it’s been so long! More please!

I love this song. I don't think either Avi or PTX sing it anymore which is sad. I love the background vocals but my favourite version is just Avi and his guitar on a rock somewhere. It is beautiful.

There are some of their older originals that are apparently caught up on legal issues, due to Av's part in writing them. For example, I don't know if PTX still does "Run To You", since Avi was the primary writer of it, but I don't think we'll ever see Avi "cover" any songs he performed as part of the group. Also, there are some older songs that Ben Bram said in an interview that he chose for PTX to no longer do because he said without Avi's specific voice, the songs no longer worked the way they needed to.

I feel awful that the legal battles are restricting them from using a whole bunch of originals and probably ruined their friendships forever. I do love this song. Avi sounds gorgeous and youncan tell the lyrics are personal to him. I enjoy the African style background vocals.

There's a better version of this out there. I think it was put out by PTX. It has a camera angle from behind the group showing all the camera phones with their lights on; much like holding up a lighter. It looks awesome!!!

There is (was) a version of Avi alone up on top of a mountain singing this. 2017 or 2018. I'll check to see if it's still up on you tube . I think it was before all the lawyers got involved and robbed us of some amazing music.. At least there's still you tube 🥰🥰
