Kirstin has really come into her own. I think her time on Broadway was very good for her. Her voice has matured so much! That key change before her solo, to move into EXACTLY the right range for her, was perfect. BTW, you think I don't know your love for Scott? I do. But mine is for Avi. With him gone, I don't get nearly as distracted as I used to for at least the first 10 views of every new PTX video. Now I just love them all equally.

The genius of using the (traditionally) middle and high register singers to begin the lowest part of the song, then follow up with their bass singing middle register - then dropping back mid-solo to bass... From their Sing-off days they stand by their surprises... This only proves that they think through EVERY decision before they cover a song.. They sing for effect.

That is either "I am hating this already and am going to have to force myself to finish what I started" or it is "what the hell was that, I didn't expect it and it floored me so much I just need to compose myself before I continue. That was far more incredible than I expected". From the look on your face it was clear we were obviously dealing with the latter case. Although all of them EXCEPT Matt began in their solos in their lower registers, so pretty much the whole thing was a surprise. I was the same the first time I heard this cover. I keep hearing about how great the Disturbed cover was, and while it was good, I would have them as third of three between that, this and the original with the original in the middle.

honestly without Kevin i dont think they'd be where they are today because in the competition he was the difference between them and everyone else and then as they all got comfortable with each other it just got better and better and the others shined too but ofc we know now they are all phenomenol better than most others especially together but Kevin is the anchor the one that cannot be replaced as there is no other like him in the world.

Scott is a baritone and able of low notes. People tend to forget that because he sings mostly lead and tenor. Scott takes on the base line when Avi (in the past) and Matt had their "moments". But because thats in the background it is not as Obvious.

Did you catch it? You mentioned Matt and Kirsten belting, but did you notice there was a momentary bit where they went into an almost universal group belt? It was right before they did the subway wall/tenement halls part. They all seemed in their head voices at that point. What made it funny is that they all seemed to begin in their lower registers, except for Matt, and he began already pretty elevated in solo, at least until he did that electric slide down to bass in the closing line of his solo. I still maintain that Kirsten is their best belter, followed by Scott, then probably Matt just barely ahead of Mitch, and the only reason I have Kevin bringing up the rear is because we so rarely get to see him sing solo in lead. When he does, his tenor is beautiful. He does so for short bursts in Bohemian Rhapsody, and in Imagine, and for one extremely too short phrase in the Prayer.

There is a genuine dispute about who has the highest voice, Kirsten or Mitch. Not bad, for someone who's supposed to be a *mezzo* soprano! I think the real difference is in the timbre of their voices on the high notes; it seems to vary more with Mitch than Kirstie. Kirstie tends to belt the high notes, while Mitch goes from angelic to belting to an electric *guitar* solo for crying out loud, with no apparent difficulty. Or, maybe, I just don't have the foggiest what I'm talking about.
