Hey! Hopefully this info is useful in repairing your pentax 645n/ troubleshooting

My 645n is giving me a flashing battery light, put in new batteries no change, and even used a battery pack from a friend 645n that works in his camera, but yet in mine still get the flashing battery light on the display. Any ideas and is this something you could repair?

Great video, thanks. Just curious, how does this "earthing" operate for the external battery pack? From what I can see this connector, only has two pins. Or is the earthing carried out by the external battery pack? Cheers.

you can think of it as a clear all data switch if the switch is defective and doesn’t open you effectively just have a short to ground with power coming in. once the battery pack is removed it grounds the mpcu and flex circuit to prevent any garbled data remaining in the processor.

I've got a faulty 645NII body. Installing new batteries and switching on lights up the outer LCD. Mirror is half-way up. Nothing moves when I press the release button. Just discovered that the batteries are flat i a few days, wth th on/off swuitch in the off position. Is this the sign of a failing ground switch and/0r burned out "inductor"? How to check the inductor? Is it working as a fuse, so it should be closed circuit when OK?

Could this be why my 645n mirror sticks up in landscape, but not in portrait or if i hold the camera upside down?

the camera powers up but the shutter does not fire (with the film back removed)! any clue?

Hello! Is there any recourse once the inductor is fried? I have one open on my workbench and the ground assembly is healthy and I've got no power. Thanks so much.

Can the Pentax 645n support a 12v current?

I wouldn't push it. but i don't think it should be too much of a problem. Best of luck getting the power/flash stuff going!

I don’t know if you still check comments but I’m having a problem with my Pentax 645 (first model). I put a roll in and it wound the whole roll through. This hasn’t happened before but I did put a shoot a roll of 220 film prior to switching back to 120 in which it then wound the entire roll of 120 to the end. Was wondering if this is an easy fix because I can’t find any readily available information about this repair, especially for the first model. I had messaged a guy who had the same problem, but he just sent it in for a ~150 dollar repair at keh. Is this necessary at all?
