I came here for the Pentax 645 review, which you sort of delivered. But you are sneaking absolutely amazing, graceful photography into this video. I am truely impressed and touched by your images. They have such a etheral and artistic quality to them! Keep going!

Aww, congrats and thanks for introducing us to your new baby :) I almost started looking at medium format cameras because 120 film seems more available than 35mm right now. Your shots of Ivy look soooooo good ❤
@itscapturedbysam2 жыл бұрын
The films are definitely more accessible than 35mm, I think the fact that you only get 15/16 shots per roll, it dose change the way I shoot. Feels odd, but might be a good odd!

I love my Pentax 645NII!! Also, if you turn the ISO knob to PF and use the up and down arrow on the right and get to F9, hit pressing the AE-L button on the right side below the arrows will toggle between having 15 frames or 16 frames! This will have to be done before you load new film, or before you take your first photo.
@itscapturedbysam2 жыл бұрын
ahhhhhh~~~ good to know!! I always thought it only takes 15 frames!! Thank you for the tip, I will try it right now!!

Just had to subscribe. If your X700 has the bad capacitor problem it is a pretty easy fix. There are instructions online. Now that I have been forced to retire I want to get back into the hobby. My earlier work was all 35mm but I really want to go MF now. Even though I highly prefer fully mechanical cameras I want to eventually get a Pentax 645N for situations where AF is a plus for my old eyes. Since I already have Grandma's old DuaFlex (Glorified Brownie) I will start there but I have a long list of things I want to get eventually including Mamiya RB67, Mamiya C Series TLRs, Press cameras like Rapid Omega, Folders like Moskva 5 and so on. Going to swim in the B&W world too. So excited.

after seeing the shots from your first roll and hearing you say "i wasn't impressed" i could hardly believe it! here i was thinking "that's everything i would want from MF film." and i was thinking "this is a gooood photographer." but i know what it's like to look at your own work and not be impressed. glad you saw the value it was bringing to your photos after some time. great video, thanks for sharing! i continue my hunt for the cheapest, mintiest pentax 645!!!

Funny enough later I got the hassleblad and the Pentax 67, this 645 is still my most used camera and arguably my favorite MF camera 😂!! So yes! Get one!! You would not regret it!!

I had a similar experience to that unboxing when I got my first pentax67. It was my first medium format camera and removing it from the packaging was such a wow moment for me. The 645s film loading process looks really smooth….. I still have trouble loading my Pentax 67:

If you didn't think uou got a gigantic improvement over 35mm then there's a couple of reasons for this. First 645 is better results wise ..but not by much. A 6x7 format camera would have been more dramatic. Secondly you were using a fast film which also has a fair bit of grain in it. If you'd have used Ektar 100 or maybe Velvia 100 the results would have been sharper.
