Nothing wrong with shooting trees. I live near a few different types of woodland and never tire of visiting them throughout the year. There are so many shapes, colours, details, etc, that it's always a pleasure to walk round.

Hey Matt! Recently found your channel and just had to comment on this old video. I'm a Wilmington, NC native and my wife's family used to own a house at Carolina Beach so it was super awesome to see my hometown through your lens. I ran across your channel after picking up a new (to me) OM2 and you've given me a new perspective on shooting film again. Your comments about having photos of people you love and care about has really hit home as well and I plan on really making it a priority in the future. Love your channel and what you are doing here.

Hi Matt ... I just love the way you cover all the aspects of life in the Day house. The family photos are great, and it reminds me of when my parents used to always taking photos when we were kids. It's something that doesn't seem to happen much these days. Great work ...

Hey, nice shots. watched it to the end. I am a fan of the old analogue, film cameras. I learned on a Pentax K1000 about 30 years ago. Since the digital age it has been hard to make smooth transitions between the two. in the 90's I was using my Pentax k1000 to do all the weddings that i did and had good results with. I now use a Pentax k-01 and have nearly abandoned the film cameras. My passion is in the Film, as i looked at the old slides from years ago and they're nothing like the digital images of today. Wile i was down in PA this last week, my cousin pulled out a old Pentax 6X7 camera that I had noticed that she had and said, "hey Jake if you are going to use this camera I would like to give it to you. You have to promise me that you will use it though." so I did and it renewed my passion. I will have to say that i am a little rusty with the film camera. What i am wondering is do you have any examples of shutter speed and aperture settings that can revive my training? I think i will be able to pick it up but you know how things are when you have a friend that can say, "did you ever look at this?" By the way, I still have my Pentax k1000 and still use my old lenses on the digital. Have a look at some things i took a few weeks ago and let me know your thoughts on how i could get this same look with the 67. flic.kr/p/KKamQm flic.kr/p/KKiXfr flic.kr/p/LDekFu Sorry for the long comment Cheers, Jacob

Just found you today. Got 4 minutes into it and you mentioned home processing. Maybe you've done one in the nearly 3 years since you made it _but_ I'd love to hear your thoughts/experiences with DIY processing. I _think_ my local, dedicated photography store processes film but curious about DIY. I did a _little_ DIY for my old boss (passport photos, basic head shots for PR) and it was fun. Thanks!! Really looking forward to the rest of this video, comparing the bodies.

Hey Matt. Great video sir. Your photos turned out great as always. They all did. your photos on the beach shooting 400 at box speed were excellent. Good example of why film is so awesome and fun to shoot. I normally shoot it at 1/2 box speed and expose for the shadows. Might have to try a roll at box speed. Your videos are inspiring so many man. Keep them coming. I know folks like to see "how to" videos too, like the one you did of the Contax 645 review. If more people can see how to do it, how easy it is, and the awesome results, I know it would be an inspiration to so many to start shooting film more often. Folks are craving the "how to" videos type stuff when it comes to shooting film. And congrats on the new little one coming your way!

I'd be 100% interested in an artifact uprising vid. I've used the Adorama service in the past, and had pretty good results, but I'm still a newb, experimenting with various mail in labs, printing services, etc. Speaking of, maybe a comparison of various printing services? Amazon just announced their Prime thing, and Costco is pretty popular as well. Would be curious to see how they do compared to the more "boutique" services.

Awesome photos Matt! Especially the HP5 shots. I've been shooting HP5 @ 1600 a lot lately as well, however, the labs I've gotten them processed at have all used Ilfotec DD for developing and the photos have come back with waaaay more grain than I would have hoped. Have you (or anyone else reading this) ever experienced this with that particular developer? Would the Kodak D76 or something else be better?

I really enjoyed going through your photos with you. Awesome work. Thanks for sharing these. I have a question. You (and others) make reference to exposing for the shadows. How are you doing this with your Pentax 645n? I'm thinking spot meter mode with 2-3 stops exposure compensation to put the shadows in zone 2 or 3. I have the 'n, and I also have a Sekonic L-558 spotmeter. With the spotmeter, I usually measure darkest and brightest areas and use the meter's averaging function. In the 645n, I find the matrix meter to be pretty darn good, but I'm always interested in better technique (even after 40+ years seriously pursuing photography). Thanks!

Great video, also sad to see that you are not completing the 366 challenge. I'm current using the hp5 and also push it to 1600. Do you always go with the widest aperture? beautiful photos, i really liked the m6 family photos, b&w really gives this feeling of "memories" and I agree that 1600 is a good way to use hp5 for general purpose or it's to flat (although I prefer Tri-x!)... Anyways, when you say you expose for the shadows do you mean you place shadows in zone 3 or you place them in zone 5 (overexposing)? thank you!

Hey man, thanks for the video. Looks like you guys had a nice time away. Awesome you were able to get some pics of Molly's parents as well. They'll be treasured for years to come I'm sure. I can def see Molly's eyes in the pics o Nora. She's a gorgeous kid and you should be very proud. Good luck with the second round :) I was curious if Molly had her photos online somewhere? She is always carrying a camera when you guys are out and I'd like to see what her shots on the F100 look like. No worries if she prefers to keep them private :) It's interesting that you have chosen to get your films developed and scanned by someone else. I don't really like that idea myself but you get great results so obviously that helps suppress any fears of them screwing it up. Keep up the great work.
