The P3 (I am in the United Sates) was my first film camera, bought in 1985. Recently had the shutter repaired and have been using it for the last two years with the Pentax 50mm F2 lens. A simple camera that works well.

Thanks for the detailled review ! For my opinion the best version of this camera is the P30N. I like the A - position on the shutter dial, so you can use the aperture priority and you can use older pentax lenses with the half exposure automatic.

The ME SUPER & SUPER PROGRAM were my favorite Pentax cameras I the SUPER PROGRAM with ASA 400 and the ME SUPER with ASA 1500 for low light. My favorite lens which I still own is 35-105 3.5 zoom. For DSLR'S I use the Pentax *istDL 6 megapixel camera I bought new which can now be bought for $ 20.00 on Ebay

If you gave me a choice, I would go for the P3 or the P3n versus the ME, because I feel it gives me more choices, especially in M mode and it has a DOF lever, that is a deal maker or breaker. It is so similar in functions to my KX in m-mode, that the two features it lacks from the KX are the aperture in the viewfinder, variable self-timer and the mirror lockup.

I bought one after a few years using a Zenit TTL, had it for six months then traded it against a Nikon F301. To be honest, as far as I can remember it was as good as the F301 despite the Nikon name

Hi I have a question… I found my dad's Pentax P30. It has no film but I noticed that the film advance lever has no effect and the shutter does not work…
