I've had a number of tripods from super cheap pan/tilt, to decent grounder capable ball head tripods, but nothing comes close to this...
The Benro BAT Series. Simply amazing.
The video shows the Benro FBAT24C which is the high range of the series (Carbon Fiber) and comes with a 25 lb weight rated ball head. It will support the FA* 600 F/4 mounted to the K-3 Mark III (I tried it out of curiosity).

Hi Kobie - this review is so informative. I've been dithering about a proper tripod for years, and after seeing your video I brought the smaller one as I'm pretty short, and it is excellent. Thank you.

I am between this one and Rhino model. The ball of Bat is smaller and legs are thinner than that of Rhino. I will use it for videography with a S4pro head and photography.
@KobieMC
@KobieMC 10 ай бұрын
The Rhino would have more stability, but the BAT has more flexibility since the legs can be locked in place at reverse angles. For Videography, I would go with the Rhino just due to the extra stability.

@mordavian I meant the BAT series allows you to lock legs that are facing towards the sky while another leg (or 2) are on the ground. It's great for tight spaces where you can use a wall to put one of the legs UP and use the wall as a contact point instead of having all three legs spread out on the ground.

I hope you have something a bit more sturdy for your 600/4.🤣 Actually have you tried it with the 600?

In the UK Wex Wex list it for £269 with that VX25 head or £279 with a GX30 head. They describe them as a "travel" tripod, but both are out of stock. They do stock a similar 34C with a VX30 head, of which they de-emphasise the "travel" and which seems to be a bit heavier, and stronger presumably. I might stick with my old Velbon as I don't often use a tripod.

I was looking for versatility when choosing instead of having multiple tripods for different outings.

I got mine direct from the uk distributor on their website. I’ve never had a tripod I can take out (mine was cheep but too heavy) so I got the smaller one as I’m short. It’s totally fab.

When I first saw your folded tripod, I thought it was the same as my lightweight one. Mine is a Sirui T-025x. It can't be inverted like yours, which is certainly cool on the Benro. I actually have a benro so I must see if it can do things I didn't know about. 😅

I almost got a Sirui but when I saw what the Benro does, I was sold instantly.

@@KobieMC I don't think my Benro is as versatile as yours, but ai was after a solid base for astrophotography. 🙂 Equally the Sirui wouldn't be good for the K3iii plus DFA 150-450 but I got it for landscapes when hiking and travelling.

@KobieMC

Of course! At the end of the day, it is afterall, an SD Card. It just has a little wifi radio in it which you won't need to use since the K-3 Mark III has built in wifi.

Just don't pan on a tripod. I don't think that might work. Even the one leg stuff, i don't use it. It limites you so much.

Jesus christ! It's over 400 bucks man! No way would I pay that. I've got a k and f tripod that has every feature you showed. Only its aluminum not carbon. For the extra ones in wieght I'll stick with mine. At just over 100 bucks it's a bargain. When I'm out I use the monopod part as a walking stick! It's still in perfect working order. As for height It's towers over me so that's fine. The only mod I had to do is make spikes. I have 4 inch aluminum spikes that lock into any surface, even ice. It's solid. I could loose this thing or drive over it 4 times for what the benro costs. I doubt the k and f will last a life time but it will last ten years for me im sure. By then there will be an even better tripod design out there. 40 years ago it was just 3 legs. You were lucky or rich if you wanted them to collapse lol. Still the benro is nice so some will buy it.

K&F stuff is decent. The legs on your tripod can lock upwards and have accessory mounts on the plate? Which model is it?
@simonstevens1631

@Kobie M-C hi kobe. It's the s211 model. I paid 125 bucks for it from Amazon. It has one threaded hole for an accessory. You can drill more if you needed it. I've never used it though. It's legs articulate on the knotches to parallel but move through to 180 if you wanted. I've never ever used a tripod like that though and I doubt it's a priority feature for most people. It works as a straight or upside down tripod. I've had the camera head touching the ground to shoot fungi so it works well. With the articulating screen on the k70 it was easy to use. Also I've shot flowers and snowflakes with my macro with the camera on the side extending arm. Again very handy. In all my years I've seen so many expensive accessories for cameras. It's a shame but I look at a lot of stuff and shrug. I just can't afford those things. I'd rather spend my money on glass. It's the only part that really does work out that the more you pay the better you get. Plus you can live without a tripod but never with a crap lens. I don't mean to be unkind about the benro but it's out of my league.
@KobieMC
@KobieMC 2 жыл бұрын
Fair enough. Most of the time when I'm using the tripod it's with a heavy lens. Well, before I got the 100 macro. I have some K&F filters and haven't had any issues with their stuff. I had an amazon purchased tripod before and the head snapped off it (thankfully I caught the camera). So I'm a bit on the "never another tripod from Amazon again". But that's just me in my head from that experience. I do like the cool extended horizontal arm idea. Very cool design!
