Heres the story:so thier was a woman and a man but the woman was not happily married so she climbed a tree and her husband followed her. She tolled her husband to tiy a vine to their ankles and jump to test thier love so she jumped and the vine pulled her back befor she hit the ground and the husband did too but his vine was too long so he hit the ground and you know ☠️. Sorry if some spellings are wronge.

What you're seeing there is two tree vines wrapped around each ankle & tied to the tower. It used to be done from trees before these structures & is seasonal, to ensure elasticity, preventing injury & casualties. They need to be supple enough & have the right amount of sap inside to stay intact & is done annually (starting from seven years old), so their bodies are well accustomed to it. Each jumper has their vines customised by weight as well, which must be judged correctly or will snap, similarly to if they're too dry, meaning damage +/ death can occur from a fall more than anything. It is said to have been created by a woman running from her partner who jumped after she dove off, but without being attached & died as a result. It was apparently then practiced by women, until the men took it away from them & made it their own. Later, invading missionaries prevented the people from land diving further for a time & are said to have stolen the tradition as the foundation of bunjee jumping.
